Chapter 45- New Information

"Father! no need to be so harsh..." The bear muttered almost sadly. Was it genuine? Kaede thought it unlikely.
"Miu, what exactly did you change in it?" Kaede asked.
"Well," Miu began, eyeing the Monokuma closely, "I first made it so it has no way of contacting whoever is in charge or another Monokuma."
"You did what!?" The Monokuma growled, giving Miu the worst look it could muster.
"Ha Yeah! You're on your own now whether you like it or not 1and there's no way we'll let you speak with them in person unless we come along of course!" The Monokuma didn't respond and rather continued to glare at Miu. It must be true then, that Monokuma could not contact anyone.

"I couldn't exactly alter its personality, but it shouldn't be too hard to get it to cooperate, especially with Kokichi as its... father." She said the word hesitantly and almost with a hint of disgust.
"I'm a great father!" Kokichi spluttered indignantly. "Besides Shuuichi here will be a great co-dad!" Saihara made a choking noise beside Kokichi which caused them all to stare at him in alarm,
"M-me?! Co-dad?!"He stammered, his complexion developing a red tinge to it.
"Mhmm! Can't think of anyone better." Saihara's face told it all. He looked immensely troubled.
"I can't..." Saihara said quietly and Kokichi's face visibly hardened.

"Course you can! There's no way I'm letting Miu-" Kokichi said, the smile returning in full force,
"No." Saihara interrupted more forcefully this time, "I-i should get going." He added awkwardly, standing up from his seat and turning his back on all of them without a second glance. The silence remained even after Saihara had left the lab until Kokichi finally broke it,
"Shit... is it really not...?" He said so quietly it was a miracle Kaede heard anything at all, "Monokuma!" Kokichi snapped rather brusquely and caused everyone in the lab to jump in alarm, "tell us everything you know about this school."

When Kokichi turned, something made Kaede nervous. There was nothing wrong with his expression in the slightest. She knew Kokichi was good at keeping his composure under any circumstance that he came to, but he could never really control that. The Monokuma stared at him for a moment, motionless.
"And why should I do that?" Kokichi giggled in response. Kaede cringed at the sound. It sounded so forced and unnatural to her.

"First off as your loving parent I'd like you to help me, second..." the bear didn't move, "as I said before," Kokichi's voice was lower, but still somehow sounded as sweet and light hearted as if he was accepting an ice cream from a friend. "I could make your life a living hell." He got the intended effect. Monokuma shifted slightly and looked at least a little bit fearful if anything. What were these machines? We're they programmed to feel fear? Shouldn't that be impossible?
"I..." the Monokuma began, its face lined into a deep frown and sighed, "I know less than you'd think. Not that I'd tell you, but-" the bear broke off in a hurry with a quick look around as if worried they were being watched- which they definitely were.

Was this the truth? To what extent did this Monokuma know? Kaede wanted to know so much, but how much would this bear actually tell them? Or could tell them?
"You don't know? What do you mean by that?!" Miu asked when the Monokuma hadn't continued talking. The bear scrutinised her with its red eye for a moment,
"I mean, I don't know." The Monokuma replied impatiently, crossing its arms over its chest, just like the other Monokuma did. Their mannerisms were identical.

"You don't think Motherkuma purposely removed information, do you?" Kaede suggested with a creased expression. She was skeptical as to whether to believe the bear or not, but something told her it wasn't a lie. She glanced at Kokichi and it looked like he was thinking similarly to her.
"I wouldn't put it past it." Kokichi seethed through gritted teeth. If what this Monokuma was telling them was the truth then this was yet another setback in their goal to escape. "God this was a waste of time. I could've been-" Kokichi trailed off with a loud groan, "forget it..." Kokichi shook his head and ran a hand across his face impatiently, "so what do you know exactly?"
