He was awoken by a distinct knocking at his door. Maybe if he waited, whoever it was would go away. When the knocking continued, disgruntled, he pushed himself up into a standing position with great difficulty and stumbled over to the door. Whoever it was should know to quit after not getting an answer in a solid minute of knocking. He pulled open the door and looked up into the persistent face of Kaito, who still had his hand up in a knocking gesture,
"How long were you planning on waiting?" Shuuichi asked, rather bemused,
"As long as necessary! The luminary of the Stars does not quit!"Shuuichi shook his head and moved out of the way so Kaito could come inside. Kaito smiled and obliged, bending down to pick up a small tray with a silver cloche on it. Kaito strolled through the open door and placed the tray on his bedside table.
"Sorry man, but we kind of forgot you were asleep this whole time until now," Kaito announced sheepishly, taking up what seemed to be permanent residence on Shuuichi's bed. "But we brought you a lot of food! You must be starving." He hadn't been feeling any signs of hunger until Kaito had mentioned it. The mention of it seemed to act as a trigger had his stomach churned uncomfortably and groaned disapprovingly at its emptiness."What time is it?" At these words Kaito looked even more guilty. He seemed to be contemplating carefully what he was about to say,
"You see, we didn't forget, it just slipped our minds! With the whole Monokuma thing going on we were pretty out of it." Shuuichi felt dread spill into him. He couldn't have... "it's around 8 am..." Shuuichi stared. That didn't make sense... he had gone to bed at approximately 9 am. Then it finally hit him and gaped. A precious day. Gone. He hadn't even prepared. He had only till tonight to figure out what he was actually going to do, otherwise they were all completely screwed. "I'm really sorry Saihara, here have something to eat, Kirumi made loads for you."Kaito lifted the metal cloche to reveal an assortment of breakfast foods all laid out neatly, and held it out to him. Shuuichi took a piece of toast that was- to his delight- pre buttered. Less work for him. For a minute he forgot about the impending damnation they were all about to face and munched on his toast. He only remembered when it was rudely forced upon him by Kaito who decided to open his mouth and ruin Shuuichi's peace.
"You don't have to worry about tonight, we have a plan."Shuuichi stuffed the last bit of toast into his mouth and chewed. Kaito continued when he saw that Shuuichi wasn't going to be able to answer with his mouth now completely full of bread.
"That's all I needed to say, so just don't do anything rash..." Kaito seemed to notice how horrible that had come across because he began to backtrack immediately, "not that I'm saying you would kill anyone! I was just..." knowing that he was going to have to answer this one, Shuuichi swallowed the remainder of food in his mouth and coughed. Even with butter it was unbelievably dry."I get what you meant," he said after he had finished his coughing fit. Kaito grinned sheepishly and stood up from the bed.
"Thanks bro, well I should get going, we gotta prepare for later, but... it seems the extra sleep did good for you, you look a lot better than yesterday!" Shuuichi smiled half heartedly, although his new found energy was good, it came with the price of missing a whole goddamn day.
"Thanks for not waking me up." Kaito laughed and nodded at him,
"Anytime!"———————————
Shuuichi was pacing. Was there such a thing as too much energy? It was at least better than being a total wreck of a human and not thinking straight. Now all he had to worry about was jumping around while trying to get the spring on Tsumugi instead of the alternative of falling asleep. How should he approach this. A confrontation? No, she would have the upper hand then. A surprise attack? That might work, but she did have the cameras and microphones, she would know he was ready to spring out and stab her. Stab? Was that even the best approach? He could just run in like a crazy person brandishing a knife and hope that Tsumugi was caught in the crossfire of his attack.
