He had been back 1 day and already time felt as though it was closing in on him yet again. He knew everyone being back together wasn't going to last forever or even more than a week. That was why he had to make the first and final move. If he really was going to end this killing game he had to do what Kaede could not. He had to kill the actual mastermind.

He currently had 3 days left to spend with everyone before Monokuma's motive would be put into action. At the moment he could try to relax as much as he could before that time. He walked out of his dorm purposefully and strode over to another identical looking door and knocked. He heard the mechanism in the door click as the lock turned. The door creaked open a minuscule amount and a large purple eye peered through it. The eye widened and the door flew wide open to reveal a relatively small boy in a white outfit, adorned with the familiar checked neckerchief.

"Saihara! Feels like I haven't seen you in years! How's life holding up for you?" He beamed up at him, eyes shining. Shuuichi felt some of the giddiness he had used to come back to him a bit at the sight of Kokichi so happy.
"Great now that you're here." ...wait, "o-oh Sorry! I don't know why I..." He stammered, perplexed at his own words. He wouldn't have said that under old circumstances either so why the hell did he...
"Nishishi~ that was pretty bold of you Saihara. Anyways why'd you knock, you wanting to spend some time with little ol'me?" He cooed stepping out his door and letting it shut behind him, "well sorry to burst your bubble detective, but I'm pretty busy at the moment and I have no time for something as trivial as making 'friends'" he emphasised the word 'friends' with the use of little air quotes. Shuuichi raised an eyebrow,
"That's a lie isn't it?" Honestly he wasn't quite sure, but knowing Kokichi there was a high chance that this was a lie.

Kokichi clapped his hands together enthusiastically, beaming at Shuuichi like he was congratulating some child who had just won a consolation prize.
"Wow! You've only known me one day and you can already tell? I guess you're called the ultimate detective for a reason!" Shuuichi grimaced, if only Kokichi could remember.
"So you want to hang out or..."
"Of course! It better not be boring though..."
"Yeah if it's boring you'll kill me, right?" He said realising too late that he had said it out loud. Kokichi was the one to raise an eyebrow this time.
"What are you, some kind of mind reader now too?" Why was he stuffing this up so bad!

"I just have good intuition?" The sentence came out more of a question than a statement and Kokichi didn't look convinced in the slightest,
"Uh huh... anywho, so what are we doing?" Feeling thankful that Kokichi had decided to abandon that topic, he thought. Then an idea came to him, something that Kokichi couldn't possibly find boring especially since it had been his idea originally.
"What about a life or death game?" Kokichi's facial expression didn't change he simply looked at Shuuichi.
"Have we met before?" Kokichi peered at him skeptically. Shuuichi felt his chest pounding hard.
"We met yesterday, what are you..."

"Yes." Kokichi cut him off, "...so what type of life or death game!?" His expression flipped. He no longer displayed any sign of doubt or confusion, only anticipation and excitement. He gulped. Was it too suspicious to say anything Kokichi had gotten him to play with him before?
"How about ro..."
"Rock paper scissors? Yeah I thought so too~" Kokichi finished his sentence a smirk on his face. Shuuichi blanched. "Since we're on the same page let's go." Kokichi hooked his arm in Shuuichi's and dragged him outside and onto a shaded bench.

He mentally kicked himself. How could this have gone so badly. He had just wanted to spend some time with Kokichi before the deadline and it had ended up like this? He was surprised Kokichi even wanted to hang out with him after that. He had sounded like a total stalker. Kokichi slid smoothly into the abandoned seat and beamed up at Shuuichi who took a spot opposite him.

"You ready? Rock Paper Scissors!" Kokichi put out rock, but Shuuichi hadn't moved. "Hey your life's on the line here so you better put something out." Tentatively, Shuuichi got his hand up in a ready position earning him a swift smile from Kokichi, "That's more like it~ Rock Paper Scissors!" This time he had put our paper, the same as Shuuichi. Despite his determination to win, they continued getting the same results as each other. There didn't seem to be any pattern to what Kokichi was putting out, but this had happened before too. Was it just luck that they kept getting the same? Shuuichi put out rock and Kokichi put out paper. Kokichi smiled and enclosed his hand over Shuuichi's, giggling,
"Wow that took a while! Buuuut I won, sooo that means I get to kill you right?"

Kokichi smiled and enclosed his hand over Shuuichi's, giggling,"Wow that took a while! Buuuut I won, sooo that means I get to kill you right?"

Kokichi wouldn't actually kill him right? Cautiously he gave a small nod, becoming consciously aware of the hand still holding his. He felt his pulse quicken rapidly. Kokichi had obviously noticed his realisation because he smirked and removed the hand back to his side of the table,
"Well you're lucky I don't feel like killing you yet, Saihara. You're faaaaaaar too mysterious!"

There was something he couldn't explain about Kokichi. The way he always managed to keep him on the edge of his seat. Always left him guessing no matter how well he knew the boy.
"But since I'm sparing you, I think you owe me something." A soft smirk crossed Kokichi's features. This sounded awfully similar to something that happened before. In spite of himself he felt the corners of his mouth twitch upwards.
"Yeah? What were you thinking?" He jested,
"Nishishi~ I'm pretty thirsty sooo, I want Panta as my prize!" Shuuichi blinked. Seriously? Something stupid like this? It's not like he should've expected anything different, they were nearly total strangers, but still... His disappointment must have showed on his face because Kokichi giggled, "Huh, you disappointed?! is the request too boring for you?," he leaned closer over the table eyes sparkling, "or maybe you were hoping for something more along the lines of..."

"No I was not." He said quickly before Kokichi could finish his sentence. He swung his legs around the bench and stood up in a way to hide his newly reddened complexion, "well the Panta isn't going to get itself." He sighed and began to make his way to the dining hall.
"Yippeee!" He heard the creak of the bench as Kokichi sprang off it and ran up to match his pace. He took a deep breath in and smiled. Despite Kokichi's madness, he felt relaxed for the first time in what felt like weeks. The sun on his face, the soft humming coming from the boy strolling beside him. He glanced down to find Kokichi staring at him curiously.

"Take a picture it'll last longer," he chuckled. Kokichi didn't seem abashed by his comment whatsoever ever and instead gave a sly smile,
"Mmkay!" The boy said, turning his head back to a forward position, whistling merrily. They stepped onto the landing of the wooden deck leading to the dining hall and opened the door.
"Oh, Shuuichi I'm glad you're here! ...and Ouma you too." A blonde haired girl waved from her seat at him though eyeing the person next to him suspiciously. "I need to talk to you about something," He heard a small cough from Kokichi as he moved in front of Shuuichi, blocking Kaede's view of him.
"Oh! Akamatsu what a pleasant surprise I'm soooo glad you're here!" Kokichi's voice was high and mocking, "I know how badly you must want to talk to me, but I'm kinda busy with Shuuichi here, sooo... I'm going to have to politely decline."

Shuuichi's gut turned over. Kokichi had used his first name. Not that this should have been a big deal, but judging how Kokichi had only just met him yesterday.
"Ugh, not you." Kaede groaned leaning in her seat so she could talk to Shuuichi without having Kokichi in the way. "I have something really important to tell you," Shuuichi hesitated. There was a good chance that she wanted to tell him something about there being a mastermind and it wasn't a subject he was too keen on discussing with Kaede.
"Ahh, in a minute I just have to get something for Kokichi."
