The Next Night
Mia's POV
The cold air blew against my cheek as I stood in Hero's Park standing in front of the Superman statute. I had only been to this park once with Clark as we went on a walk one Sunday and got ice-cream. (This not being the same park as their first date. Metropolis has two parks.) Although the statue was a sight to behold, but it was not my purpose of being out here tonight. I post earlier online that if Superman wanted to speak about the incident he had to meet me at here at Hero's Park at 10 p.m.
I had to admit I was a little nervous and hesitant on doing this meet up, but Clark convinced me otherwise. I paced back and forth hoping it would calm my nerves some. I even thought about calling Iris to help my nerves, but I thought against it. I looked at my watch again and saw that it was almost 10:15 p.m.
"Maybe he's not coming." I said out loud.
"Of course I will come." A voice said behind me causing me to jump.
"Oh my gosh. You scared me to death." I said trying to calm myself down with a hand over my heart. I looked to see Superman floating a feet away from me in the air looking down at me with his arms crossed over his chest with a smile on his face. Again something about that smile seems familiar.
"Sorry, about that Miss Jones." He apologized as he lowered himself to the ground and walked up to me.
"I..uhm..yeah." Come on Mia pull it together. The sight of him just amazed her. What he could do no one thought could be possible.
"So, where and what time do I need to make this 'speech'?" He said crossing arms over his chest.
"Well..uhm...I'm working on having you speak here with the press Wednesday morning."
Superman nodded his head. "Okay. You sure this will work?"
I nodded my head as well. "I think it will."
He smiled at me then said, "You really seem to care about what the world thinks of me. Why is that?"
I was not expecting him to ask me that question. Yet, again I should have since I did seem really determine for this to work. Also, the fact I went through all this trouble just for him. "To simply put it you are a hero that just wants to seek justice for those who can't and I... admire that."
His smile seem to grow at her statement. "I appreciate that." After that we both just stood there in silence not sure what to say.
"So, that's all for now. Thanks for coming out tonight." I said breaking the silence. "Good Night." I then turned to make my way back home.
"Do you need a lift back to your place?"
I stopped in my tracks and turned back to him. "W-What?" I asked making sure I heard that correctly.
"Do you need a lift back to your place?" He repeated.
"Y-You mean like fly?"
Superman chuckled. "How else?"
My heart was raced in excitement of Superman offering me a ride, but at the same it raced due to my fear of heights. "I'm not sure-"
"I promise I will not drop you." Superman promised with a sincere expression his face. He then held out his hand for me to take. I looked at his hand and back at him
I couldn't but smile in excitement at at him. I then nodded my head and said, "Okay, I trust you." Superman smiled and walked closer to me. I gasp a little when swooped me up in his arms holding me bridal style and held me tightly to his chest. As I wrapped my arms around his neck.
