a young girl sits in front of the TV, watching pageants and fashion shows.

she thinks about how elegant they are, the grace with which they move, and wonders why she can't be as beautiful as them.

and then she's exposed to this other world, the beauty world, with all of its standards and norms, and gets sucked in because she wants to be like the models.

the sweet, innocent little girl who once was oblivious to other people's comments and didn't care what people thought was transformed into a conscious, self-aware teen who thought the world of someone else's thoughts.

the pressure to be perfect is great enough to crack her hard exterior. great enough to push her further than rock bottom, to somewhere even more daunting and dejecting. great enough to cause her to not eat.

i'm that girl.
