Pantherstar looked up, sighing. Heaving herself to her paws, she walked out of her den, snagging a mouse from the prey pile and wolfing it down. Padding back to her den, the leader slept fretfully, unaware of the presense outside.
She'll wake again, I'm sure of it. The traitor grinned. They may not be able to do anything, may not have been assigned an important role by StarClan, but they would make sure that they killed the leader effectively and silently.
Hmm, I think this is the herb she's allergic to.... Stuffing a blue tinted leaf into a vole, the traitor ran back to their den, smiling at the to-be death of their leader.
ONE HOUR LATER
Why can't I sleep? Pantherstar thought miserably, dragging her paws as she snatched the vole that would kill her. Eating as fast as she could, the leader started to feel woozy.
That was when her throat constricted. Choking, the black she-cat spasmed once more and was dead.
The Lead Traitor watched from the shadows, smiling cruelly. They've done well, they thought.
Staggering to her paws Pantherstar licked her chest fur down and stumbled away, falling asleep once more.
Wha- but- but she- she died! How is she still alive?! The bystander cried in their mind, jumping when a voice came out of the leader's den. "Sorry, traitors," it yowled. "You didn't think you could kill me that easily, did you?"
Then the camp was silent.
PANTHERSTAR has been protected. She was not harmed.
Mintsong happened to wander into the camp then, a neat bundle of catmint in her mouth.
Well, isn't this convenient. "Hello, Mintsong," the Lead Traitor purred, watching as she dropped the herbs in horror. "Thank you for not giving us away, but StarClan doesn't want to risk it. After all, you nearly gave us away this morning."
"No, please-"
Her eyes glassed over, expression forever twisted in fear as she fell, blood fountaining from her neck.
"Sleep well, and let your soul go to the Dark Forest. Or wherever traitors like you go." Stepping over the body, the killer padded into their den and settled down, wiping the blood off their claws on the ground. We got a kill tonight even though the other one failed. Now the clan doesn't have a healer anymore.
Little did they know, Mintsong had already chosen a secret apprentice, and so the legacy of the medicine cat lived on.
