I'm doing a less stiff version of third person so yeah
Crescentclaw doubled over. No, she was not laughing. She was...
Well, she was dying.
It wasn't like she wanted to. No, the she-cat very much liked living. However, life didn't seem to agree with her.
"And there's nothing you can do?" she croaked, staring desperately at Bluesong.
She shook her head. "I've never seen such a bad case before," the medicine cat rasped, and Crescentclaw felt her heart drop.
Well, this was such a great day for her. Okay, technically, it was night, but at this point the warrior didn't care.
"You know, you did good healing Pantherstar," the she-cat complimented, smiling crookedly.
"You too," Bluesong replied, staring wistfully at the full-of-life Pipersong, who had recovered from her sickness and was bouncing back to the warriors den.
Hmm, scratch that. She wasn't really bouncing, and wasn't so "full-of-life" as she used to be, because of, you know, the whole 'oh hey let's exile Lightningheart' thing.
BUT SHE WAS STILL LIVING AND BREATHING AND NOT DYING AND CHOKING, SO, UH, YEAH.
"I just want this to ennnnddd," Crescentclaw groaned, staring up at the sky with her belly to it.
"Well, it won't," Bluesong sighed, closing her eyes and staring at the backs of her eyelids, grateful for the blank darkness.
Silence.
"It...won't...?"
Was Crescentclaw feeling moody? Was she already dreaming? Why wasn't she answering?
The medicine cat poked the Guard/Shipper.
"Must have fallen asleep," she grumbled, wishing that she could do the same.
Yeah, wishing. Like she didn't fall slip into unconsciousness after seriously, like, ten seconds.
In the morning, Bluesong was curious when she found Crescentclaw was still sleeping. She was restless yesterday and woke up around dawn. What's wrong?
"Crescentclaw," the she-cat hissed, poking her sick companion. "Crescentclaaaaaaaaaawwwwww. Wake uuuuuuuuuuppp."
Bluesong was almost to the point of whining when a howl rang through the morning.
I'll be here to heal my Clanmates, Bluesong thought to herself reassuringly, trying to get herself to stop holding her breath in anticipation of a battle that would expose her as the medicine cat.
Silence.
No, wait.
Listen.
Nothing.
Not a sound.
Not a breath.
Not a snort.
Not a movement.
And the body was cold.
CRESCENTCLAW has died because she didn't ever comment/was "inactive." She was the Guard and the Shipper.
(I say she was "inactive" because she did all her role stuff, just never showed she was active in the specific chain.)
And then the medicine cat's throat constricted.
She didn't even get time to blink before she started to cool down.
After all, why warm one who's already dead?
BLUESONG was killed by inactivitycough. Yep, still sounds stupid. UM, I MEAN- She was the Medicine Cat.
