Sometimes, this is all too easy, — thought wryly, flexing xyr talons. Acacia was sleeping peacefully as everyone else had gone hunting or scouting, leaving her alone. She never slept at night anyway(not only was she the designated night watch, but she couldn't seem to fall asleep until dawn was just peaking through the reeds), so the group had decided to leave her be.

I need to knock her out first, then I need to. . . .

.xXXx.

(Yes I'm lazy sue me)

Acacia woke up groggily, pain yowling at the base of her head. Everything felt foggy and dense, like she'd just been dragged through a thick stretch of mud. Thick cattail stalks were tying her wings to her body, and her talons felt heavy(though what was on them, she didn't know).

Out of the brown(get it? 'cause MudWings are brown? okay I'll shut up now XD), she snarled, an idea bubbling into her mind.

I'm tied up? Three moons, was I kidnapped? Which sister? Why would they take an average MudWing soldier? Can I manipulate them? Hm, do I have a guard? How good are they? What am I wanted for?

"Careful, wouldn't want to exhaust yourself," someone murmured in the shadows.

Strong wind forced Acacia's ears to flap as she made herself as small and timid as possible. "H- hello?" she stuttered, cringing internally. "Who's- who's there!?"

A soft, childlike(dragonetlike?) chuckle carried on the breeze. "I know your tricks. You can't fool me."

"I- I don't know what you're talking about. Please, where am I? Where's my family?" Acacia whimpered. She shrank back when the reeds rustled, fear molded onto her face.

The dragon in the reeds snarled, mud squelching underneath their claws. "I'm tired of this silly little game you play, Acacia. I never cared about it and I never will. Not that I'll have to for much longer."

Eyes rimmed with tears, she wailed, "I don't know what you're talking about! Please, I- I'm just another one of the scouts! I don't- I can't help you!"

The reeds shook once more as xe stepped into the moonlight. Xyr snout was warped in a cold sneer as they accidentally stepped on a cattail. "Boo," xe whispered, smirking cruelly when Acacia fumbled to turn around and see xem.

Closer, she thought in the mean time, closer! Three moons, stop monologuing and come here!

Her body has stilled as she waited, and xe took the bait.

Swooping close enough to hear her breath rattle through her teeth, xe whispered, "I told you I'm tired of your little game."

Snagging xyr talons on Acacia's restraints, xe flew up, the night sky twinkling above. The stars shone indecisively, uncertain as to what they should do. Should they welcome the pair in, or shove them back out? The moon offered no input; it just watched them, indifference radiating off its pearly surface.

Acacia, realizing there was no escape, started struggling. She didn't want to die. She wanted to live to the end of the war, wanted to see all her siblings celebrate with her, wanted to be a normal MudWing, wanted to—

"Fly, little bird," xe murmured as xyr talons uncurled.

Acacia snarled, then, seeing the distance between her and the ground, roared in panic.

Get it off, get it off, she thought frantically, pawing uselessly at the heavy material on her talons. Open your wings, make noise, don't die!

The muddy grass grinned at her, its green stalks waving in welcome.

Stop falling, get it off, open your wings, make noise, don't die! Don't be silent, they won't realize—

Years of Delta's training kicked in as Acacia snarled into the air, watching the shadow above with anger stealing her breath. She was going to live, and when she did, she'd tear out xyr heart.

Her wings snapped into the air, slowing her descent and pouring relief down her spine. Or so she thought. Yes! I did it, I'm free! Take that, murderous little— wait, no, stop! How am I still—!

A forceful blast of wind cut straight through her wings as she folded them on instinct. But even instinct wanted to see her perish; she careened into the muddy grass without her wings to slow her fall, its green stalks stained red. Her body was absorbed by the mud, hidden beneath its murky banks. The only indicator that she was there was the blood-soaked ground, the red speckling the grass in a cruel mosaic of death.

Acacia was dead. The Killer clearly wasn't finished.

ACACIA was murdered. She was the INSOMNIAC.

SHALLOW and NUTRIA have been accused by the INVESTIGATOR.

(...okay in my defense I'm used to posting at 4 - 5)
