ForestClan; Night 7

Moonbrush sighed. Grooming her leg, she thought about all the murders and exiles and fear.

Fear.

It was a metallic taste on her tongue, something she wanted to get rid of but couldn't. The fear of death haunted her like a ghost, always watchign, always waiting.

Striking near, but not yet.

Oh no, death was not going to be something peaceful for Moonbrush. StarClan had agreed that much. And since StarClan agreed, the traitors agreed.

A small cat padded forward, their pawsteps silent.

The Spy was quiet, staring up at the moon fondly. I was named after that, she thought in awe, straightening into a sitting poisiton. As long as I'm near it, I can't get hurt.

"Hey Moonbrush!"

"Hey," the she-cat replied, watching as Caramelbrush sat down.

Were they really safe? Only fate knew. Only fate could keep them safe.

Fate was not feeling merciful that night.

"Hello, both of you," the apprentice mewed, glancing at the sky as they entered the warriors' line of sight. Watch me, StarClan. I'll make you proud.  "I've been improving my hunting skills!" they chirped, bouncing. "Do you want to see?"

"Sure. Go catch us a vole," Caramelbrush answered after a moment's thought.

"Alright! Could you come with me?"

"I'll go," Moonbrush volunteered, oblivious to fate's cruel decision.

"Over here! I think I smell a vole!"

"You might have a better nose then me, then; I can't smell it," the Spy meowed, inwardly recoiling. No. I can still be the best warrior! I'll just have to train harder.

The traitor dropped down into a perfect hunting crouch, stalking towards the nonexistent prey.

'I'll go to the other side to trap it,' Moonbrush mouthed, putting her paws down lightly.

A fierce hiss sounded from the other side.

"I'll st-"

A blurry shape burst from the bush, claws out. "StarClan rules! You're a fool if you think otherwise!"

A dead fool.

Scowling, the apprentice scratched the lifeless she-cat, scarring Moonbrush's dead body. Dragging the warrior back, they cried out, "Caramelbrush, help! A fox attacked us!"

The other warrior came running, looking around fearfully. "Where is it? Don't worry, I'll protect you!"

"From what?"

Slash.

"Me?"

Slash.

"I'm fine, thanks."

Slash.

"Now you can see how the prey feels!"

Slash.

Blood was everywhere.

But the only thing stained was the heart of the traitor.

MOONBRUSH and CARAMELBRUSH have requested to leave the game. They were the Spy and a Warrior. Have a great summer, @Starry-Nebula!

20 MINUTES LATER

The apprentice snuck back into camp through the shadows of the wall, nodding discretely to the warrior conferring with their leader.

"What are you doing out of bed?" Pantherstar asked suspiciously, not noticing the young cat disappearing into the apprentice den.

"Nothing. Just killing cats."

"Wha-

"Kidding! I'm kidding."

"Oh, that was such a funny joke. Ha ha ha. I'm dying. Somebody help me, it was so funny." the leader deadpanned, her tail flicking in annoyance.

"Well, you are going to die."

"Can you please stop with the jokes? They're making me uneasy."

"But it wasn't a joke!"

"...You're kidding, right?"

Claws were unsheathed.

"Why would I?"

Teeth were bared.

"Why are you doing this?"

Fur was fluffed.

"Because StarClan is not just some funny little joke!

The cats sprang at each other, snarling. Blood stained the leader's den, a lasting reminder of the fight that cost Pantherstar her life. As the she-cat fell to the ground, dead, the traitor let out a hiss of triumph.

Little did they know, a spirit had already granted the leader a second life.

"The Dark Forest awaits its new warrior." They walked away, settling contentedly into their moss.

"No. No it doesn't."

PANTHERSTAR has lost a life. She still has one left.
