"So, Shatteredcloud. What are you doing out so late?"

"Why?"

"Well, I wanted to show you something. I know, I know, you won't trust me because of all the murders, but I can make it worth it!"

The tom shifted uneasily. "Fine. But make it quick. I don't favor being out at night anymore."

"Alright!" Bounding away, the traitor sniffed the air and changed direction, almost doubling back. "It's right... here!" The cat gestured proudly towards a hole reeking of predator.

"You don't think I'd actually go in there, do you?" Shatteredcloud laughed a cold, barking laugh before falling silent. "Bye, spirit lover. Tell StarClan I hate them."

"You're not going anywhere!" Snarling, the murderer shoved the tom in, pushing him with their shoulder. "Have fun with the foxes." Shatteredcloud's head hit the wall with such force that he fell unconscious from the unbearable pain.

Hmmm... he might get out if I leave him so close to the entrance. Better drag him in further.

TWENTY-SEVEN MINUTES LATER

"Ow. My head," Shatteredcloud sighed, getting up slowly. Standing on shaky paws, all the tom's groggy brain registered was the stinking scent around him.

Foxes. The warrior's hackles raised and he growled. And they're fresh, more or less.

A hissing whisper wechoed through the cramped cavern. "Don't join the wrong side, Shatteredcloud. We will win."

"No, you won't!" Shatteredcloud snapped, wincing at the pain his head pounded into him in waves.

A harsh snarl vibrating in the place of the voice, followed by red fur and glowing eyes. Four foxes entered through the tunnels around him, their skinny bodies slipping past him as they circled their prey. With rumbling stomachs, the creatures growled in triumph, their matted fur raised slightly in excitement.

"I will fight you to my last breath." Shatteredcloud whispered, even though he knew the foxes didn't understand him.

One of them, slightly larger than the others and more plump, barked twice and all four foxes launched themselves at him with teeth bared and throats thirsty for blood. They tore him apart, ripping the warrior's flesh greedily. Gnawing giddily on the meat, they left his head with his eyes staring into the distance, irises looking at the tunnel that would guide him to freedom.

However, freedom was a privilege only the living could afford. At least, that's how it was for a cat in a fox hole.

SHATTEREDCLOUD was killed. He was a Warrior.
