Chapter 25: Punk Hazard

Nami slowed down her speed when she heard someone yelling behind them. She turned her head and saw the children were running after them, their facial expression were begging them.

"Please wait! Get us all out from here!"

"Sis, please! Help us!" Mocha the giant girl was crying, looked at Nami with hope and begging.

"Now kids, you need to stop!" One of the staff in this building dressed in weird clothe said to the children. Nami frowned at them and looked back to the children apologetically.

"I'm sorry. I have to run now!" She said with a sad frown. She closed her eyes ad turned back, avoided meeting their eyes. The children didn't give up and kept following behind the Straw Hat Pirates. Even few of them tripped or panting heavily, none of them stopped.

"What's going on with them? Let's bring them with us!" Chopped who was sitting on Franky's shoulder, looked at the children sympathetically and suggested.

"Idiot! We don't even know how to save ourselves! There's no way we can take that many children!" Franky frowned and spoke the truth. He couldn't let his or any of their sympathy set them all in danger.

Right after he finished, tears rolled down on his face and he began to cry. "But what is this?! I have a feeling something tragic is going to happen."

The children finally stopped and panting heavily, sweat dropping. They couldn't run any faster to catch up with those big brothers and sister. They stood at there and watched them getting farther and farther away.

Mocha gripped her dress tightly, tears rolled down on her cheek. She bit her lip and yelled out from her lungs.

"Then! Come back later and help us!"

Nami widened her eyes and paled to the little girl's voice, her speed slowed down and finally stopped. She felt her heart was aching from the desperation and hopeless in Mocha's shaking voice.

Mocha looked at Nami who stopped and her tears won't stop falling. She knew this might be the only chance for her, and for everyone to go home.

"I knew! Even I have never been out this building! There is nothing on this island right!" She cried painfully.

"There is no city! There is no one else here!"

"That's why nobody come here to help us!"

Every children cried to her words, they knew the answer from the beginning already but they were too afraid to say it out loud. They afraid if they did, they won't able to keep their hopes anymore.

"I want to see my father and mother again!" Mocha cried loudly, she really wanted to go home and see her parents again!

Nami clenched her fists tightly and gritted her teeth, eyes heated.

"Sis! Please come back! Come to help us later!" The girl cried and begged the big sister, hoping she would come back later.

At that moment, a heaviness which she had never felt before was crushing her heart into pieces. She could feel the heated staring behind her from the children. They were just kids, so young and so innocent. Every cry and begging from them was like a test to humanity.

There's a voice in her mind asking her a question:

Can you really run away and leave them alone here?

Footsteps of those staff were getting nearer and louder, it felt like they were almost behind her already...

The smiles of those children when they first met them and played with them, the sadness and hopeless faces of them when they watched them ran away, leaving them behind...
