Chapter 39: Struggles

Sengouku excused himself quietly from the conference, shut the heated argument behind the wooden door with a serious expression on his tired old face. The old man walked silently in the corridor of the Marine Headquarter, ignored all the greetings on the way rarely.

When Garp returned to the Headquarter from his duty and heard the strangeness of his old friend, the Hero of the Marine brought a big paper bag full of donuts and headed straight to the office of his friend. 

"Oi Sengouku! What's with that face? The newbies says you are acting weird."

Garp stuffed a mouthful of donuts and placed the paper bag on the small coffee desk in Sengouku's office, poured himself some coffee and sat on the couch. The former fleet admiral of the Marines didn't answer the question and stayed at his pose, staring at the blue ocean outside his office through his small balcony quietly.

Garp frowned to the silence of Sengouku, usually the latter would begin to scold him not to eat in his office and dirt his place.

"Garp, I need to tell you something."

Sengouku still didn't turn to face Garp, staring at the ocean blankly. Garp gave out a muffled reply and continued his donuts feast happily, not sensing the seriousness and heaviness linked in his old friend's tone.

"Sakazuki announced the decision from the World Government."

Garp's hand paused for a moment to the mention of the current fleet admiral of the Marines but soon continued on stuffing donuts into his mouth.

"Oh really? W-what...did he- Oh my this donuts taste so good!"

There were several tick marks on Sengouku's forehead already but Garp still had no idea about it and obviously not being serious to what the former said. Sengouku took a deep breath and recalled the content of the argument he heard minutes ago made him grabbed the railing of the balcony tightly

"Destroy Straw Hat Pirates in any price, especially Straw Hat Luffy."

The donuts Garp was holding dropped on the floor and rolled away slowly. Sengouku waited for a while, giving Garp some time to digest this news. The Marine Hero put down the paper bag contained the donuts and licked away the sugar on his fingers, then hands placed on his knees and maintained silent.

Sengouku finally turned his head to Garp who now was expressionless, sighed.

"Capture Straw Hat alive is the priority. If we fail, then executes him immediately."

"This is the direct order from the World Government, or directly from the Five Elders."

Sengouku narrowed his gaze toward the slowly clenched fists of Garp, the suppressed emotions roaring in his eyes and the quicken breathing from the old man.

To be honest he wasn't surprise when he heard this announcement, or more he was waiting for this decision since long time ago. Since when, Straw Hat Luffy had become a threat to the world peace, or toward the benefits of the World Government and Celestial Dragon?
