Chapter 7: Race with time and death

Nami laid on the bed, thinking about what she had known.

1. Ace and Whitebeard are alive
2. Shanks keeps the secret of they survival
3. They have very serious injuries that can take their life
4. It seems like there is way to save them but it is very dangerous

"It is quite simple after listing them out." Nami gave a bitter smile. 

According the conversation, it looked like Ace and Whitebeard didn't have much time left. The doctor said there was way to save them...

"What am I thinking? Getting myself into trouble? Come on! That is not my type!" Nami smacked her face with the pillow. 

"Focus Nami! You have already a lot of troubles waiting for you. There is no time to mind people's business!"

...How about Luffy?

That was a voice inside Nami's head and kept on asking her this question. She knew how painful Luffy was, watching your family died in front of you. She really did. Nami dare to say she is the one in the world who don't want to see Luffy get hurt, but this time... things were complicated.

"...what should I do..." Nami sighed.

On the board---

"So what are you going to do, Shanks?"

Beckman looked at his captain, who was holding a bottle of wine, sat on the floor. 

"Seriously, Beckman, I'm not sure." Shanks drank his wine, Sighing. 

"I know there are risk to save both of them but I don't want to give the possibility. I rather take a risk." Shanks gave Beckman a bitter smile.

Beckman sat beside Shanks and took out a cigarette and light. "So what are you worrying? It's not like you, Shanks."

"Even I wish to do so, I don't have the courage to challenge death." Shanks gave Beckman a little smile.

"Not this time, Beckman."

Beckman didn't say a word, just listened to Shanks quietly. 

"It is strange, my friend. After knowing Ace is Captain Roger's son, I feel they are so similar. Not just their faces, but also their characteristic..." 

Shanks looked up the stars. "When Captain Roger was still alive, I always wished he could run away from everything, cried at once, just escape for once, for once!"

Shanks stood up and threw the empty bottle into the sea. He stared at the ocean and tighten his fist.

"But after all, he didn't. Until the last, he still didn't give up."

Shanks looked at Beckman, his eyes were full with sorrow and anger. "That's why I can't give up Ace. I can't watch him died in front me just like Captain Roger, not again."

At the same moment, the doctor ran out from the cabin with a terrified face. 

"Captain! Captain! Things are turning bad!"

Beckman turned to him and Shanks frowned. "What is it?"

"Fire Fist and Whitebeard, they...! Their hearts are not beating anymore!"
