I woke up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping. I decided to start off my day with some fishing but before I could even exit my tent I heard Moomins voice.

"Snufkin!"

I sighed.

"I guess it will have to wait."

I exited my tent to see Moomin running towards me.
"Moomin, good morning to you too." I said laughing.

"Snufkin! Papa has decided to visit the lighthouse again! He says he's feeling inspired and wanted to know if you and Jax would like to come with us."

"Sure Moomin that sounds like fun!" I said smiling.

Moomin smiled jumping joyfully.

"I was hoping you would say that! I'm so excited!"

I chuckled.

"I'm glad you are, how about we go ask Jax now. I'm sure she'd love to go on the boat."

"Yeah!"

We both ran towards the sandy beach slightly racing each other to her resting spot. When we got there Moomin looked down into the crevasse then looked back at me.

"That's a deep hole, do you think she's in there?"

"Yeah, unless she went off on her own."

Moomin shrugged and cupped his hands around his mouth calling Jax.

"Jax! Are you down there?!" His voice echoed.

"Yes. No need to yell Moomin." She said laughing.

"Oh, sorry."

"It's okay, what are you guys up too?"

"Well, papa is planning a boat trip to the lighthouse and was wondering if you would like to come with us."

"Wow! I've never been on the open sea before. It's always frozen and too cold to swim in anyway. Sure! I think it would be wonderful."

She came out of the crevasse with her shoulder bag and tea kettle attached.

"So, who else is going?" She asked, dusting herself off as we started to walk back towards Moomin house.

"Me, you, Snufkin, Little My, Snorkmaiden, Mr. Hemulen, Papa, and Mama."

"What about Sniff? Doesn't he want to go?"

"I'm not sure, he's never gone with us before. I think he's a little scared."

"Oh, well there's nothing wrong with that. He might change his mind this time. There's a first time for everything."

"I suppose so."

Moomin opened the door and we all went inside.

"Moominmama! You don't need to pack the whole kitchen sweetheart! It's only two days." Moominpapa said.

"I know, but what if we have an emergency. We always need to be prepared."

The three of us walked into the kitchen seeing pots, pans, and preserves scattered all around. Moominpapa turned to us and smiled.

"Snufkin, Jax! You've decided to come with us yes?"

We both nodded still shocked by the amount of supplies Moominmama was planning on packing. Jax walked over to Moominmama offering a hand.

"Here Moominmama, let me help you organize. I'll meet with you guys in a minute."

"Alright, thank you Jax. We'll be in the dining room." Moominpapa informed.

She nodded in response taking out some jars of Moominmama's homemade strawberry jam. I tipped my hat and grinned at her before leaving wishing her luck. She playfully rolled her eyes and smiled before waving me off. I then followed Moominpapa and Moomin to the dinning room where I saw Snorkmaiden, Little My, Sniff, and Mr. Hemulen all gathered around a map of the island. We started discussing where everyone would be seated. I could slightly overhear the conversation between Moominmama and Jax in the kitchen.

"Oh Jax, why don't you leave those two in the bag."

I heard Jax laugh a bit.

"Moominmama I'm sure this amount of jam will be fine. I wouldn't want you to carry too much"

I could hear the smile in her voice.

"Moomin, you're going to sit next to Jax and help her row. Is that okay?"

"Yes papa!"

I was slightly disappointed that he got to sit next to Jax, but I suppose it helps keep things even. Shortly after Jax and Moominmama came in, the bag was much smaller than it was before but still contained a decent amount of supplies. Moominpapa seemed to be impressed.

"Well Sniff, I don't think you'll have to make two trips this time." Moominpapa said scratching his head.

"Jax knows how to keep my feet on the ground for sure Moominpapa." Moominmama said chuckling.

"Great work you two! Jax, you'll help Moomin row is that okay? I'm sure he'll teach you the basics when we board." Moominpapa said.

"That sounds fine with me Moominpapa." She said grinning.

"Alright! Let's get to it shall we?"

"Yeah!" Moomin, Little My, and Snorkmaiden shouted in unison.

I glanced at Jax to see her smiling, I could tell she was excited to go on the ocean for the first time. The thought of her being so happy made me smile, I couldn't help it. Her joy is just so contagious.

"Snufkin? You coming? We're heading for the dock now." Jax called to me from the front door.

I didn't even notice everyone leave the dining room.

"Yeah, sorry."

We walked towards the dock together, my hands stuffed into my pockets. She looked at me quizzically.

"What's on your mind?"

"Me? Nothing really. I'm just happy to go out on the open sea again."

"I bet."

I looked at her grinning.

"What do you mean?"

She smiled back.

"Well, you make boats out of leaves, and you obviously crave adventure. I've seen the way you look at the ocean when you come to my resting spot. I'm told by the bartender I read people very well you know."

I was bewildered with how see through I was with her.

"You're not wrong. I love the open ocean, I can't say I'm not surprised with your observations though. I have been quite transparent recently."

"Darn I thought I was a visionary for a second." She said laughing.

I chuckled looking up at the sky.

"It's a beautiful day. No storms should be headed our way which is good."

"Everyone! We're boarding now! Hurry along to the boat!"

Jax and I looked at each other and smiled.

"You ready?" I asked grinning.

"As I'll ever be."
