He loved having his own bathroom, but, Toey discovered that even after three weeks of using this shower, he could never get used to the idea of being nude in an all-glass room. Lit brightly by the clarity of early daylight, he felt on display for the world to see.
His suite was on the sea side and looked out at the bay. Because of the rocks, no one swam there and there was no foot traffic either. The only witnesses to his bathing and naked glory were the birds and the palm trees just outside the window.
That never stopped Toey from jumping and covering up his jewels. Every bird caused the same reaction.
His bedroom door was open and he heard Tul call: "Breakfast is here."

Toey was dressed but still towelling his hair. He found his Uncle out on a small garden lanai where they often had morning coffee. It was on the shaded side of the house and was regularly cool due to the fine mist of the waterfall that cascaded, not three metres away. Tull had everything set up and was calmly going back and forth to the kitchen. He had the steaming pot in his hand and was pouring when Toey took his seat.
Uncle was dressed in his morning normal casual, that would be a pair of boxers. This morning's pair were white with printed panda faces situated strategically around the places of interest. His slippers shuffled on the cool clay tiles and he made fun of himself by taking, quick, tiny steps.
"I'm sorry to put the rush on you Hlan Chay, but I got a call early this morning. They've arranged for the work to begin sooner than originally planned. We're starting tomorrow instead of the day after." His uncle appeared apologetic and yet sounded frustrated.
Tul set the pot down and went behind Toey. He finished drying the boy's hair, tossed the towel over the back of an empty chair, and then swiftly toyed with it so that it wouldn't look like a scarecrow.
"Dig in while it's hot."
He didn't recognize the food as having come from the place they usually get it. The fried eggs didn't look the same and the rice porridge was thinner.
