Max was right,  coming to the lonely summer home did make him forget about Min.  He forgot how angry he was at both her and himself.  For a short while,  he could leave behind the dread he was feeling concerning what he was going to reveal to his parents.

He forgot what time it was and had no idea how long he'd been there.

He was so into it,  so lost in his look back at the forgotten sensations.  He'd gone deep into his memories and painstakingly brought Tul to life in his mind.  The tone of his skin, the way he felt in Max's arms.  The way Tul smelled when he was excited. Max couldn't forget how Tul took it like a man.  His sex was raw, passionate and vigour-filled.  He never complained that it hurt. He didn't moan or whine and tell Max to go easy. Indeed it was the opposite. "Harder, fuck me harder Max."

Max had undone his pants and dropped them.  They were piled around his ankles when he blasted his milky goo across the buckled floorboards. He flailed his hand and flung the last of it from sticking to his fingers.

Before he bent and pulled his pants up,  Max took one last look around the darkened and wrecked room.  It seemed funny to him that a place so marred and left for years unloved,  could hold his fondest memories.  He was immune to the smell of the rotting leaves and the leavings of stray cats.   He was numb to what he'd lost and feared he'd never have again.

Min didn't hear Max come home.  She never woke when he took out his backpack and stuffed it with the things he would need.  She didn't see him turn the kitchen light on and sit at the breakfast table. He texted his students telling them all that he would be back in three days.

Max was always awake first and would rouse her, but today he didn't. She could see that his side of the bed was undisturbed and that he'd not slept there.

She did though,  almost bolt from the bed when he started and revved the engine of his motorbike.  It was chained and stored under a tarp and just outside of their bedroom window.  Min ran to catch him but saw only his back as the bike motor cracked its mean sound and sailed down the road and away.
