...If this were a real series...
The episode would open with scenes from last week and a flashback.
It would start with a long-distance shot of Heng and Green on the beach.
The audience would see them saunter down the alley in through the back door of Heng's house....
Hot Rod couldn't reach his laces without squawking in pain. Heng untied the sneakers for him and put a pair of slippers down so that he could step into them.
Heng took Green to the smallest of the three bedrooms... his bedroom. He turned the bedside light on. "Make yourself at home."
He didn't tip-toe, and Heng left the kitchen light on when they walked through. He was talking in a daytime volume.
"Shouldn't we be quiet P'?"
"Don't worry about my brothers, they could sleep through a typhoon."
The shade of the lamp was perforated with a surfing scene. It began turning slowly. It projected the surfer's shadow on the white walls and the blue colour of the waves beneath him.
He went back out and to the kitchen for two glasses of water. Green sat on a chair that was between the window on one wall and the clothes closet door on another. There was a guitar in the corner behind him.
Heng had tall shelves of books on both sides of his busy desk. This looked like the place he did the books for the household and his business. There were a dozen pictures of his brothers and a larger one of his grandfather that would be at eye level when he did them.
"It's nothing special Nong, but the bed is comfortable. I have airconditioning if you're too warm." Heng had placed the water glasses, one on each side of the bed.
"I'm good P'." Green was no longer peering around the room or looking at Heng's belongings. Mentioning the fact that Heng was tidy, was completely wiped from his thoughts.
Green had one thing in his sights."You might have to help me undress P'. When I bend to take my socks off, it hurts."
Heng closed the curtains and blocked out the moonlight. The lampshade surfer passed over him and his still-open shirt. "Sure."
He crouched in front of the chair and raised Hot Rod's foot. Heng pulled the sock off and lifted the second.
The house was blanketed in silence. The kind that rings in your ears.
