...Friday Night...

Max walked slowly away and could swear he felt Tul's eyes on him.  His nerves tingled in his sweating palms;  it was familiar.  This was always the mood when he had to leave Tul's side. His clumsiness tonight left him feeling weird and wonderful.  A smile came and could have lit his way forward.

This was the longest time yet that he'd been able to spend with Tul.  Max said to himself:
"He's the same...  still the same."

It was still Tul who reached out and asked if he could help. That much was the same when they were teens. As so often before, Tul didn't make him feel dumb for not understanding the legal stuff, even better, Tul explained it and made it seem simple.

His thoughts didn't stay organized.  Max's head was all over the place.

"There are some differences though,  but I like them.  He's a man, not a high school student."

"I wonder if I can get him to sing for me."

Max twisted at the waist and turned back.  Tul was just walking under the carport and a sensor light had come on.  He'd pulled his shirt off and had it laying over his shoulder.

"There's this aura about him;  He's so damn comfortable in his shoes."

Tul's wry and dry sense of humour was the way it had always been. Max loved it.

"Handsome is still a smart-ass too."  Max tried to imitate Tul's voice and his touch of snideness.  Max already knew Tul was trying to make him relax and less awkward when he told him:
"It's legal for friends to hug."

He started to jog as soon as he was out of sight of Tul's home.  Max's heart was ready to detonate.  It banged loudly in his ears.

"God, he's really good looking."

The jog became a run.  His jumbled mess of thoughts narrowed as his legs stretched out in each long racing pace.  Max flew past the gates and the shrubs, street lights and barking dogs. He began to pinpoint his feelings.
