The dim light beside the bed was outshined ten times by Max's smile. He could be so insanely cute and it left Tul feeling spongy and malleable. Tul could see that Max was jubilant, and simultaneously, trying to control himself because he knew Tul wasn't feeling well.
Handsome let himself be squeezed breathless. Max's chin was tucked tight under Tul's ear. He kept asking over and over: "Yes, you said yes, right?"
The seconds passed uncounted, but they were still holding each other when Tul's stomach growled a miserable sound. Max let go from the hug and held him gently back by the shoulders.
He said what popped into his head: "The stomach meds... you should take the medicine."
Max slid to Tul's side of the bed and moved the package under the light.
"This says you should eat before taking." He looked back over his shoulder. "You haven't eaten since lunch yesterday. No wonder you don't feel good."
Tul reached for the hotel phone. Tul's caretaker took the receiver from him and placed it back in its cradle.
"Room service will take an hour. I can go get you something and be back long before they get here."
Handsome's belly rumbled again.
Max picked up Tul's phone just beside the glass of water. He showed Tul the time. "Breakfast is already being served downstairs."
He didn't wait for Tul to answer. He slipped the suit pants, shoes and the jacket on. Tul heard him open the door.
He came back and stopped where the hallway started. "You did say that you would marry me, right?"
Tired Tul was sitting with his legs crossed in front of him. The sheet lay over his thighs. His hair was messed up as he smiled and shook his head noting positively, yes, he would.
The door closed as Tul hurried to it. He was going to tell Max that he didn't want anything greasy. Max had stripped him completely, and even at this hour, he wasn't about to step out. He peeked through the eyehole.
Max was standing just outside in the hall. Tul watched him jump and do an excited and elated fist-pump. Max raked his fingers through his hair and quickly did up the buttons on his jacket. He appeared to be composing himself before he bolted toward the elevator.
For some time after Max disappeared, Tul continued to stare through the hole and smile. He went to the chair where Max had placed his clothes. He was looking for the small, black-velvet-lined box on his inside jacket pocket.
