...
It turns out that Max and Tul discovered they both wanted 'more' from each other. That little taste of togetherness had a drug-like quality. It seeped into their veins.
'More', was different than it was when they were together as teenagers. 'More', in the past, meant they missed each other and the silly nonsense they did. It meant that at the end of the summer they would face again the goodbyes. 'More', meant trying to squeeze one more trip to the old cottage for a quickie.
With them both as adults, this older, mature, 'more', was new, hardcore and deeply primal. Tul couldn't imagine saying no to Max for any reason. He didn't want to stop the momentum and start thinking about it, thinking rationally. Tul knew if he did, he'd be coming up with reasons why it was not a good idea to have Max sleeping at his house. Surely there were reasons why having Max in his shower was not smart, and, when he next spoke with his agent, she undoubtedly would have a few reasons of her own.
Tul saw Max's awkwardness as iron-clad proof that Max still cared about him, and he was right.
The only words Tul could utter: "Yes Max, you can stay as long as you need, ah, as long as you want."
...
"Meang! Hurry! Answer me back!"
Three seconds later...
"Tully baby, I can't call you, I'm in a meeting. Only text."
"That's ok."
Tul began to type but saw the three bouncing grey dots. Meang was still typing, so he waited.
"Baby, before you say anything, I have a question for you."
"Ok, make it quick. Big News!"
"Are you getting any painting done? I know you have a lot going on with your surfer-dude, primetime drama, but please don't forget about Tokyo."
"Arrgh... yes Meangmum, I'm motivated... I'm working already on the last piece."
"Ok, that's all I need to know. Of course, if you're lying to me, I'll cut you."
Tul sent a fist emoji with its middle finger sticking up.
"No really, Meang, I need help. I just got off the phone with Max. He's leaving Min and asked if he could stay here."
Tul sent a brain exploding emoji. "I said yes."
"ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?!!!"
"How could I say no?"
"It's pretty easy... YOU SAY NO!"
"Baby boy, this is serious. He's still married... until he's not married anymore. If you do anything with him, ... ugh... I can't even say it."
