Currently, Lana was feeling mixed emotioned. Just an hour ago, she had been on the door of the gang house, bidding farewell to Daria and Rachel.
They had come over for an hour to 'hangout', just like normal teenagers. And Lana had told everyone in the gang house to act as normal as possible.
'No suspicious movements.' She had clarified. But she had realised slightly late that her gang had no clue what 'suspicious movements' meant. They didn't know what normal meant. They didn't know what it was like to be 'just' normal.
So it didn't take Rachel and Daria to figure out what was happening. And surprisingly, Racheal had already known about Lana and her Gang.
"You know you can tell them to behave normally. They are all so awkward for some reason." Daria had said. And everyone had flushed with embarrassment at being caught.
Now both Daria and Racheal knew about them. When they had come clear about Lana being a gang leader and running a group of monsters, Daria and Rachel had behaved in a very surprising manner. It hadn't phased them a bit that Lana could simply get up and shoot them. Instead they were having discussions about joining the gang if Lana needed help. To which she had just nodded.
But Lana knew better. She wouldn't involve them at any chance. She wanted them safe. Away from this life.
And guiltily, right after they had left, Lana had to sit down to do a background check on both of them in order to know if they were trustworthy. And luckily they were.
And Lana had made both of them meet everyone from the inner gang, Henry, Aidan and Stephen.
Lana had been surprised to see how Daria and Lizzie had got along so well at the very first go. Then she had seen something conspire between Kevin and Daria but she had chosen to ignore it. And even Henry and Racheal had struck off at the very first conversation they had together.
Everyone had looked happy. It was good then. To just be happy. With new people to laugh and smile with.
But she still wasn't sure about anything.
Anyway, something that she was completely sure about was what she had seen happening in school between two very strange people.
While the lesson was going on, Lana had gone out to the washroom, and on the way down a corridor which was abnormally dark, she had seen those two.
Hannah and Hazel.
And she hadn't just seen them.
She had seen them kissing. She had seen them holding on to each other passionately, like if they let go then life wouldn't mean anything really.
She wasn't exactly sure what that even meant, but it made something else very clear.
The thing between Damien and Hazel was surely a lie.
Where does that leave us?
She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the door of the meeting room shutting harshly as Nana and Nany entered. They had decided to sit down together and go through the profile and background of the people she knew and Lana had simply agreed.
Anything to catch the traitor.
They sat down and straightway got to business.
The first name to come up was Damien.
"How do you know him?" Nany asked.
"We have been best friends since childhood that was in Italy. I have seen him grow and I have met his parents and family. I have full faith in him." She paused. Picking up a black file, she handed it to Nana. "But if you want to check, here's the information."
"How did he survive the accident?" Nana asked, looking up from the file.
Lana smiled, "It was miracle actually. Before the helicopter could completely burn off, he had jump before it could crash and he had hit the water. Some fishermen took him in and took care of him. Then he came back and became big news." She said.
"You checked back up upon this story?" He asked. Lana nodded. Damien could be many things but not a traitor.
Next it was Henry.
"He is the actual son of the Wilsons. The one who didn't die in reality. Mom, that is Jessica had taken him to New York after he got shot and though he was saved, she told everyone that he died. She wanted him to be away from this life." Lana paused thinking back to the diary that Jessica had left for her in her will.
" She pretended to be his aunt all this while. The doctors who saved her life adopted him. And on his recent birthday, the doctors told him about the Wilsons. By the time he came back in search of them, the news reached him about his father's death and the disappearance of his mother." Lana cringed, thinking how her mom, Laine Wilson was missing too.
"Henry came to me, looking for Maia but after he understood what she was going through, he offered to help." Lana finished.
"Did you follow up on him?" Nany asked.
"Yeah. I did." Lana said. And handed over another file. Of course she had followed up. She hadn't believed Henry when he had first arrived. But after getting to know that it was all true, she had accepted his offer to help.
Next was Kevin. "He is my second in command. I trust him with my life. He is my friend Melissa's brother. I know them since I shifted here." Lana said, remembering the time when she had felt betrayed that Kevin had been involved in this gang since a long time.
But she was used to surprises now.
She handed another file. And Nany and Nana looked through, checking all the details.
Next, Aidan. Lana saw as Nany and Nana stiffened.
"What about him? He shares the same surname as Xavier." Nany mentioned, pointing to 'Black'.
"Yes he does. But I have followed up and I found nothing that could relate him to Xavier somehow. He was in California before this. His parents are Michelle and Colton Black. I traced it to the roots and nothing was related to Xavier. You can check." She hands over a file and then displays the data on the computer screen too. And Nany and Nana nod.
Like this, it goes on. Levi. Sarah. Lizzie. Macy. Melissa. Jake. Paul. Cole. Castor.
Everyone gets tracked down to their family roots. Hesitantly Lana also presents Rachel's and Daria's file.
Everything goes down well with Nana and Nany nodding at all the information and questioning once in a while.
At last only two files were left behind.
Sam and Hazel.
In Sam's case, Lana feels enforced to explain.
"Sam used to be my boyfriend long back. He got to know what all I faced in Italy but he never let it out. We were good till I discovered that he was gay. So we broke up. I have followed up on him too. Here." She hands the file.
Lastly Hazel was left.
"She was Maia's best friend. She was already in the gang before I joined, but I took her in the inner gang myself. She is an expert in technology. But something seems strange here. I couldn't figure out about her history. No information on her parents or grandparents or anyone. There is nothing about her. There seemed a block when I tried checking." Saying this, Lana displays it on the screen.
Nodding, Nany gets up from the chair and moves towards the computer. Moving her hands swiftly over the keyboard, within a second there is an identity card shown on
Lana's computer screen.Name- Hazel Forbes Kingsley.
Daughter of- Jason Kingsley and Alessa Kingsley.Nany Lily turns around towards Nana Phineas with wide eyes, something Lana had never been able to comprehend.
Nana nods at her and again Nany starts typing away on the keyboard. And something else appears on the screen.
Name- Jason Forbes Kingsley.
Son of- Dean Kingsley and Natasha Kingsley. This time Nany turns around, looking, if possible, terrified. Horror evident on her face.
" It's him."
