"Maia. Please. Come here. It's me." His voice broke. "It's Xavier."
For some reason, at this statement, Maia's eyes went blank, her body went limp and the jacket that she had been previously clutching to her bare chest fell down. Xavier noticed the change in her demeanour and reached forward to pick her limp body up.
He cradled her body to his chest and somehow managed to reach a chair and put her down on it. Then he removed the bed sheet that was laid out on the bed and wrapped it around her. With this done, he picked her up again and this time she didn't protest.
"Maia?" He tried. But her eyes were wide open with no emotions displayed. She was staring into space and Xavier could only imagine what exactly she was seeing.
"Maia, you have to concentrate on me." He tried again. She didn't react. He tried to shake her but she didn't blink an eyelid.
He had to get out of here as soon as possible because Dean's men could come in anytime and he had no strength left in him to fight anymore.
He moved out of the room with a very limp and blank Maia cradled to his chest. He looked down at her.
"Maia. Maia please, just say something. I know you are not alright. I know. But I am going to do everything that I possibly can to mend this." He breathed and closed his eyes for a second.
Tears were threatening to fall, he was about to break. But he told himself not to. He had to be strong for her. For the girl cradled to his chest. For the girl who owned his heart.
He continued walking. Just as he was on the end of the stairs, reaching the lobby that they had initially entered, Maia started writhing. Pain marked her facial expressions as tears rimmed her eyes. Her mouth opened to whisper a single word. "Andrea."
Xavier sighed in relief. "Yes. Yes you are going to meet her. Just take deep breaths Maia. Please just." He paused. "Please don't spiral back into those dark thoughts. Please." A lone tear fell down Xavier's cheek and onto Maia's face. "Please hold on."
"Andrea." She whispered again. "Andrea." She whispered again and again.
Xavier hurried down the stairs fastly because Maia was now writhing too harshly in his grasp.
"Okay okay. Please just calm down." He said looking around to put her somewhere otherwise she was going to fall out of his grasp. On his left, he saw an open door and slipped in and to his relief, it was an empty bedroom. He laid Maia down on the bed gently and looked at her again.
Her eyes were again blank, devoid of any human emotion. It looked like she had already spiralled back into the tunnel of her dark memories. Xavier tried to shake her. But all that came out of her mouth was a single word that she seemed to be chanting over and over again, as if she was trying to draw strength from it.
"Andrea. Andrea. Andrea. Andrea." She breathed out. And for an instant, her eyes met Xavier's. And she whispered again,"Andrea." She was begging him to get her.
But how could he take her out to the bloodshed that was happening outside. Lana would kill him if he took that irrational decision. But if anyone could get Maia to move out of here, it was Lana. So he took his chances.
Xavier held Maia's shoulders and looked right into her eyes and was relieved to see her hazel orbs looking back into his.
"Now Maia. You are listening to me?" He asked her to which she gave a slight shake to her head and whispered 'Andrea' again. "Okay. So I am going to move out of this room, go find Andrea and get her here. And you are going to lock it from inside. Don't move out till I am back. But you have to lock it from inside. Get me?" She blinked.
