The black gun in his hand was a bit too much to handle. He had never been the gun-holding type. That was always his brother. Since childhood, he had been used to getting pushed around and being picked at. It was not because he was small. It was because he was vulnerable. Sensitive, like his father called him.
And yet, here he was, being driven by emotions solely. He didn't find the reason to call them a weakness. It was instead, a source of strength for him right now. A reassuring force telling him to go on. Telling him that it is absolutely necessary to find Maia Oberain before something, rather someone destroyed beyond repair again.
Xavier knew that Maia didn't have it in her to take it all in again. And knowing Dean's manipulative ways, he knew that by the end of it, Maia would be all ready to break Andrea by blaming her for what would happen.
You are late. It has happened already.
Something told him. But Xavier brushed it away. He had to be positive because that was one of the reasons behind him being even ready to hold a lethal weapon, a gun, in his hand. He had to save Maia. He had to save the love of her life. He had to save her, before Dean destroyed another part of him.
Xavier's eyes flickered back up in front of him towards Stephen's back. He could sense the tension in his stiffened shoulders and firm lined lip. He could see the anticipation of what was to come ahead, running in Stephen's head, as he too, glanced around the corridor they were in.
And Xavier knew that Stephen had all the rights to be precautioned and even slightly scared. Not only for his sister who was being held captive here. But also for the girl who was out this very mansion, waiting for Stephen to come back out, alive.
Xavier did not know how it worked between the two of them. Stephen and Aria, Stephen's cousin. And though Xavier would never say this to Stephen, it was only appropriate to think that they were more loving towards each other than normal cousins. He had seen when Aria had stopped Stephen only a second before he had entered the mansion and dragged him to a corner where she had thought she was safe from the prying eyes. But Xavier had seen it all.
"Come back for me. Will you?" Aria had asked looking into to Stephen's eyes.
"I will. All for you." Stephen had said and kissed her passionately. And at that moment Xavier had understood the meaning of a statement that he had never understood before.
'Love finds you in unexpected ways.'
And now, even when they were filing through the various corridors, trying to find Maia, Xavier was having a difficult time wrapping his head around that piece of information.
He shook his head slightly, clearing away his thoughts. He was supposed to keep an open mind, ready to sense anything, fully on alert. And he was ashamed to not be able to do it even when it was Maia he was saving.
'Concentrate.' He told himself.
He clutched the gun tighter. His eyes darting to the various wooden doors infront of him.
"We have been looking for half an hour now. Where is she Xavier?" Stephen questioned him, his voice barely a whisper.
Xavier looked ahead and straight at him.
"She is here. I just don't know where exactly." He told him, assuring Stephen to go on. Stephen huffed slightly but didn't turn around to move.
"How is she? You know, after forgetting everything?" Stephen asked him, concern lacing his voice. Xavier had known that this question was bound to come up sometime, but he also knew that not telling the truth would probably hurt Stephen more later.
He looked into his eyes. "See Stephen. I am really sorry. But th only person who Maia really remembered all that time was Andrea. Maia had visions of her. She was the only person Maia didn't forget. I don't know how she is now though. She must have remembered all of you by now." Xavier said slowly.
Stephen looked back at him, his eyes sad and solemn. "I kind of expected it to be that way. Maia had always wanted to bring the family closer but it hadnt happened. Andrea had given her that one thing that she really desired, in only a few days." Stephen said. "But that still doesn't change the fact that it's because of Andrea that Maia is even here." He said, clenching his jaw.
Xavier looked ahead. He wanted to ease the tension. He wanted them to be calm and calculating. So he changed the topic.
"So you and Aria huh?" He asked, already knowing how bad he was at changing topics.
Stephen looked at him. But the look was far from harsh and cold. Instead it was filled with love.
"Yeah. It is." He said. They were still moving down the corridor, guns held tight and eyes darting from corner to corner.
"That's pretty wow if you ask me." Xavier tried to play it cool.
"I don't know. I guess it is. I am surprised you are not disgusted by it." Stephen said, frowning slightly, his eyes moving down the corridor.
Xavier looked at his back questioningly. "Why in the world would I be-"
And he heard it.
The faint screams coming from a room down the corridor.
He looked at Stephen and he looked back.
"You hear it?" Stephen asked to which Xavier nodded sharply.
And both of them jogged forward to reach the door. But there was something else in-stored for them.
Xavier tried to turn the doorknob, but the door wouldn't budge. He tried to push it but nothing helped. He was still doing it when he heard Stephen say.
"Xavier. You might want to look at this." And Xavier moved towards him.
When Xavier looked down to what Stephen was saying, he let out a frustrated growl and punched the wall.
The wall beside the door had a blue keypad lit up with with shimmering letters and numbers. The room's door was automatic. And it was password protected.
"What are we going to do now?" Stephen asked Xavier to which he didn't reply. He was busy contemplating the password that could get him through the door and to Maia.
He thought about it.
"What's the most important thing to Dean?" He asked out loud. He had spent days and months working with Dean. And working with him gave Xavier a sense of understanding him. He knew how Dean worked.
"I don't know. Maybe his wife Natasha?" Stephen replied. Xavier thought about it. It might be possible. But after her death, Revenge was more important to Dean than anything else.
Revenge meant Andrea in Dean's language.
Andrea. Andrea Francisco Oberain. Lana Wilson. Revenge. 11th August.
Andrea. 11. Lana. 08.
And1108ana.
That was it.
So taking a risk, Xavier typed it in.
🔄 considering request 🔄
And it clicked.
The door opened.
And both Xavier and Stephen rushed inside. Only to see a naked boy, around their age standing straight, facing away from the door.
But that wasn't what caught Xavier's eyes. Instead, it was the bare limp girl, lying on the bed, lifelessly staring up at the ceiling.
"No." Xavier whispered. "This is not happening." And he heard the cold chuckle of the naked boy resonate in the room.
"You know that I hate party-poopers right?" And he turned. Xavier heard Stephen take in a deep breath as his eyes landed on the boy standing in infront of them both.
"This is impossible." Xavier heard Stephen say to himself.
The boy smiled.
"Hello brother."
