Chapter 16

Lightfury P.O.V:

Toothless was stood there so weak and looking so fragile, barely any sleep due to the pale colour of his emerald eyes.
"Oh no..." I whispered thickly to myself "No Toothless I can't fight you!!-" I cried over to him full of fear as he was pushed forward, both of us forced to prowl around the arena circling one another.
"Y-You're gonna have to.." he called to me as he walked, his legs were shaking faintly and his wings were crookedly tucked onto his back after having them shoved into the cage without care.
"No!! Toothless I can't bear to hurt you any more! Look at you!!-" I stared at his body. He was very delicate now, whip marks staining his back with small cuts and scars here and there on his legs and his sides, since we got here we've been fed a morsel of fish, nothing less nothing more. By the looks of it he was starving, I was fine because I was able to last a few days without food but he had far different traits to me, even though we were a close species.
"It doesn't matter about me!! What matters is that if you don't hurt me now, you'll get killed for refusal..." he glanced at her "I-I couldn't bear that..."

I flushed immensely, feeling my pale cheeks grow rosy and hot under my skin.
"Y-You care about me..? I-In that way..?" I managed to stutter.
"Of course I do..." he then turned his head to the side. "Now please...for the love of Thor and your life...do something, do it for me..."
I knew I wasn't going to be able to reason with the alpha so I ran forward and clawed his side despite how badly I wanted to hold back. He yelped and gave me a few scratches but they weren't too bad.
The crowd around us roared with cheers and claps as we fought on in this arena, chains above our heads to stop any sort of escape...
"Toothless!! You're bleeding!" I hissed close to his ear as I kicked him back into the wall "Oops!! Sorry I didn't mean it that hard—!!"
"It's okay, it's okay.." he staggered back onto his own four paws and jumped at me and pinned me to the floor.

For a moment we both kind of just...stared at each other...my pale blue orbs staring right into his emerald pools that hovered above me, like he was luring me in a trance and I couldn't express how beautiful his eyes were. Then we both snapped out of it and he jumped off me and stood in a defensive stance as I took forward and fake attacked his wings as he flicked his tail into my side, forcing myself to fall onto the floor with a false screech of pain. I saw a row of dragon hunters all staring down at is both eyeing Toothless carefully, a few whispered to one another before they suddenly vanished to the side.

Ten men then (lmfao that rhymed) came out from the metallic gates that held us both hostage in this hellhole threw chains and ropes over our squirming bodies, the weights holding us down as they strapped Toothless's muzzle on and mine.
"G-Good fight..." He managed to croak as he was dragged back into the underground cages and tossed into one, me being thrown into the one besides him as they were locked tightly and hung the keys far far away from our reach.
"So..." Slade peered to the two "How did it go? The fight??"
"Good..." Toothless muffled against his muzzle as he managed to sneakily claw it of "I just can't wait to get out of this place. I want to go back home.." he muttered bitterly as he looked to the floor. I knew he was thinking of his two legged human, that Hiccup guy and his home. I never really understood his life all them days ago, being a pet and having a soft fed life but I realise that's what he grew up with, he didn't know any different than that.
"Toothless..?"
"Hm?"
"What was it like for you, Y'know, being wild? What did you do?"
"Well..." he seemed to be taken aback by my comment as he thought hard "Gosh uh...I don't really remember..."
"The soft fed life got to your head huh?" I smirked cheekily to him then with a soft chuckle "I'm only kidding, you really don't remember?? Not one tiny detail for me to snag at??"
"Well...I remember being a sort of lone wolf, I didn't have a clan or a pack of dragons to tag along or parents or siblings. I kinda did everything by myself" He gave a gentle shrug as the chains rattled. "I guess my companion life has really took over, mostly because I know what it feels like to be...appreciated, loved, accepted, what it feels to have a...family."
I stared at him, his words hit me like a brick as I listened intently to his talking about his passed life, shuffling closer to the cage every once in a while to get a better hearing of his life.
"Wow...pretty tough huh?" I murmured to him "You lost everything, your parents, your clan, your best friend." Toothless's ears laid back a little.
"I just hope one day I have my own family to call my own, Y'know? I know, I don't seem like the type of dragon to say that but it's true. One day I want to wake up next to my mate and our kids who will call me Dad, it just...sounds wonderful..." he smiled at the thought which made me smile too...

"Trust me Toothless. The time will come."
