Love at First Sight

Chapter 21

Lightfury P.O.V

I heard his roar.
It sounded so painful and neither of us hesitated.
"Here's to the glory of tomorrow!!" Slade roared as did everybody else. We all charged out of our cages easily enough after they were unlocked, one huge Rumblehorn charging at the hardwood door so it slammed down onto the ground.

There were so many of us stampeding out when the hunters ran down, a few of them going after the Whispering Death and I rushed over to Toothless.
"Toothless!!" I cried and ran over to him, prying his body away from the battle and into the corner and holding him "Oh gods Toothless..." I whined and nuzzled his head and gave it an affectionate lick. "It's okay...it's alright, I got you...you're safe with me.."
He couldn't even muster a word, only slurring weakly and holding onto me, leaning his head back against my chest with his eyes shut. I gently groomed his neck where the spikes stuck in and listened to his comforted purr as I did, which made me smile.
I hesitantly placed a small kiss on his cheek and flushed like crazy, as did he but he said nothing but another light purr. Me and him stayed on the sidelines, I wouldn't dare risk his life again on the field of battle, not ever, I couldn't lose him.
"L-L-L..."
"T-Toothless? Hey...come on...don't force yourself to talk...it's alright.."
"L-Luna..."
I gasped softly and stared down at him. Luna? Who was Luna? Wait...
"L-Luna?..." I paused and saw him look at me and repeated the name, giving a gesture to me.
"Am I Luna...?"
He nodded.
He gave me a name! And it was beautiful...I loved it a lot.

Toothless didn't show signs of moving anytime soon. As the fight went on the Whispering Death was down, completely still and bloodied after a violent attack from two Monstrous Nightmares. Five Zipple Backs, two Gronckles and a Changwing were desperately clawing at the chains above the arena, scratching them violently to try and break them but it was no use. More than a hundred Hunters had been brutally slaughtered, served them right for enslaving us for money.
Slade was fighting like a true warrior with his daughter, the two side by side. I hoped one day I'll have a daughter...maybe two..

"L-Luna...?"
It took me a few seconds to realise he was talking to me.
"Oh! Oh, uh, yes?"
"D-Don't let m-me go..p-please..."

My heart throbbed at them words. How could I leave him on his own so vulnerable and hurt?
"Oh no Toothless I'm not going to let you go..." I whispered meekly and stroked the side of his face "You mean..too much to me.."
We both stared at each other for a long while and I felt myself slowly lean in...closer and closer...

But I stopped myself. I nuzzled his face and moved it away, continuing to stroke his cheek with my talon and hiding in the shadows with him.
Toothless passed out after a couple of minutes so I had to crawl around the arena holding him against me and climbing up the wall, trying my best to slip through a small gap between the chains. My body was slim and sleek so I could get in simply but Toothless was much bigger and chunkier, I couldn't even bring his leg through.
"L-Luna...d-don't.." he mumbled weakly as he scrunched his nose in pain.
"No. I'm getting you out of here...understand? No way am I leaving you here."
"I-I'll only s-slow you down..."
"And guess what? I wouldn't care if it took me weeks, months even to get out of this arena, I wouldn't let you go.."

I saw his cheeks burn up and blush wildly, looking to the side but he argued no more. Instead, he threw his head back and roared to the top of his lungs as the fighting went on, then passed out again in my arms as I sat there holding him. I was confused on what he had done, but that was until a huge Stormcutter was hovering above the chains at our heads, his four wings flapping hard. I think it was Cloudjumper.
He dug his huge talons into the chains and tightened them so he had a firm grip, then started to hover upwards while pulling them with him. We all cheered with victorious roars and screams, without hesitation everybody flew out and spiralled around screaming at the top of their lungs, so happy to be out.
"Toothless!" Slade shouted as he flew over. He He was now conscious again but still weak. "I-I can't thank you enough for winning back our freedom...If there's anything I can do to repay the favour..." he then turned to me "And you-" Slade placed his huge violet paw on my shoulder "I cant thank you enough too, you've worked so hard as well...If there's anything I can do for you..just give me a shout..."
"Thank you Slade.." I smiled and gave him a little hug "For being such a loyal friend.." I then turned to his daughter "Well done to you too missy, you've fought specially hard with your father..."
"Come on babe, lets go and see Mother.." Slade nodded, thanking us once more then taking off to the sunrise with his little girl.
