Toothless P.O.VIt was my turn again.
I had a few chains around my ankles and a spiked collar around my neck as I was tugged out from my cage and standing in front of the door of hell.
"Be safe..." the Lightfury whispered as I trudged passed and gave me a confident smile. I felt my spirits and hope lift up just that tiny bit, but at the same time Thor knows what could happen to me out there, what if I don't give the signal early enough? Before I'm one slash away from death?
"Out ya go." One man pushed me outside once my chains were released and pulled down the hardwood door again. I was left standing in the arena once more, staring at the wild crowd that sent cacophonies of cheers and cries of deluded happiness. What did they find so entertaining about watching two dragons fight to the death? I suppose they may think it's fun to see them suffer but...it's wrong. But then again, humans will never cease to confuse me.
"Ladies and gentlemen! The last known living species has come for round two! Give it up for... THE NIGHTFURY!!"Everybody screamed, so loud it made my ears pin back. I didn't see what was so special about me, sure I'm the last of my species but...it's not that, exciting is it?
"Against the one and only...
WHISPERING DEATH!!"Oh no, no no no this couldn't be happening!! I stood there in utter shock with a stunned expression on my face, pinning my ears back once more as I stood there face to face with the door that held back absolute hell.
Everybody in the amphitheatre was shushed into silence as the doors began to lift, the rattling of chains echoing as a loud hiss was slowly emerging. She care flying out with a blood-curdling roar around the arena, snarling like a dog and hissing like a snake to the vikings in the stadium, but it only made them cheer and screech more.
"Oooo...look what we have here.." the Whispering Death purred as she saw me standing there growling softly. Her serpent like body landed in front of me and bared her huge teeth into a devilish smile. "Ah...I've heard of you..Toothless."
"Sheila." I murmured. I knew her well from how many times her name had been spread around Berk about a female Whispering Death who was known to be one of the best.
I didn't dare say another word, nor breathe so heavy as she was so close to my face. I just pinned my ears back with my nose scrunched, growling whenever she got a little too close to my proximity.
"Feisty one aren't you darl?" Sheila cooed in my face, then gave me a cheeky smirk which was...terrifying if I'm being honest, huge sharp fangs mixed with a smile is not a pretty sight.
"Leave me alone."
Sheila scoffed, "Excuse me?"
"I said leave me alone." I dared to hiss in her face with narrowed eyes, but she just laughed.
"So cute when you try and act so tough, it's adorable, because I know under them scales you're quivering with fear." She snarled the word 'fear' which made me flinch terribly. The Whispering Death's voice was raspy, very feminine but so dark at the same time, enough to make my back spines stand on end.I felt too intimidated by her presence. Sheila was huge, much bigger than me. The female had blood-red eyes, massive teeth, a long spiked body with no arms or legs, big wings and a stare that could see straight into your soul.
By now I wasn't even thinking, I was trying to defend myself so I scratched at her eye with a snarl.Okay, big mistake.
"Oho you're playing with fire here buddy!!" Sheila screeched and slammed her tail into my side so I skidded across the concrete and into the wall.
"Then it's a good thing I'm fireproof." I hissed weakly and rubbed at my sore side, some of her spikes had stuck in but not deep enough to draw blood, just sting.
The crowd roared up with another load of cheers as the fight began, they had all waited patiently when we were talking.I had leapt onto her tail when she made an attempt to fly around the arena, scratching and clawing it so violently it began to trickle with blood and drip drip drip onto the floor. Sheila wound her tail around my neck, listening to me choking and gasping for air as her spikes dug into the base and the crooks of my neck.
"Awh look at the Alpha now. So vulnerable and weak in my grasp, what a pathetic excuse for a king." With that Sheila threw me to the floor continuously as I moaned in pain when she had finally let me go, laying there helplessly holding my right wrist that had crunched.
"I did try and be nice sweetie." Sheila savagely wrapped her tail around my neck again, lifting me off my paws and into the air "But kindness gets us nowhere now, does it?"Before she could twist my neck, because I felt her tail shift to the side which caused me to scream out in agony, I roared loud enough to make the amphitheatre tremble. Sheila ceased her twisting and stared, before an echo of roars and snarls inside the cages under the stadium began to rumble.
And the huge hardwood doors slammed open.
