(Don't play the song yet)
Peter had depression there was no doubt about it. Tony knew about it. He always made sure he knew everything about his son. So, when Peter came to Tony's room at 3 am, Tony already knew why.
Peter loved music. It was always something that helped him calm down when his PTSD and depression gave him a nightmare and made him do things he didn't want to do. Tony soon found out when he saw Peter singing Broken by Lund.
Tony walked toward the boy, hugging him, putting his head close to his chest knowing this helped Peter calm down. Tony picked Peter up and walked to the music room. Once they arrived, Tony put Peter on the ground and the boy immediately ran toward the piano leaving a seat for Tony. Tony walked over and sat down with a smile on his face knowing what song to play.
(*Play song now* Tony- bold Peter- Italics Both- Underlined)
We may not yet have reached our glory
But I will gladly join the fight
And when our children tell their story
They'll tell the story of tonight
They'll tell the story of tonight
TonightTony started playing as he was saying the lyrics looking at Peter with a fondness no one could ever match. Everyone knew that Tony and Peter loved each other more than they loved everyone else. And everyone was fine with that because they understood why. Tony never had a supportive father and he wanted Peter to have one. Peter's father figures never lived and Peter wanted Tony to be his new father figure that wouldn't die on him. They would both do anything for each other even if it means dying for that person.
Have you ever felt like nobody was there?
Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere?
Have you ever felt like you could disappear?
Like you could fall, and no one would hear?Peter felt like this almost every day. He wanted it to end but he didn't know how. All he knew was that Tony would help him with his battle and make sure Peter would win. This one of the millions of reasons why Peter loves his father.
Well, let that lonely feeling wash away
All we see is light
'Cause maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay
For forever
'Cause when you don't feel strong enough to stand
You can reach, reach out your handTony would do anything for Peter. Peter was different. Peter was a happy child on the inside, always caring about others more than himself. When Tony first met Peter he saw what Peter actually felt. Underneath that happiness, Peter was broken, and from that day on Tony promised to protect Peter at all costs and help him not feel broken.
And oh
Raise a glass to freedom Something they can never take away Oh No matter what they tell you Someone will coming running To take you home Raise a glass to all of us Tomorrow there'll be more of us Telling the story of tonight Out of the shadowsThe morning is breaking (they'll tell the story of tonight) And all is new All is new All is new It's only a matter of Time
Tony is broken too. Tony hid it well, but Tony's family could see right through him. Especially Peter. Peter always heard Tony's screams when he had a nightmare. Peter was the first person in his room to calm him down. He would always sing an AC/DC song knowing Tony would find comfort in the songs. This was one of the millions of reasons why Tony loves his son.
Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
When you're broken on the ground
You will be foundSo let the sun come streaming in Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again If you only look around You will be found
Tony and Peter always helped each other when they needed help. It was an unspoken role for both of them. Both of them never knew what they could do without each other and they knew they would never have to think about it. Their bond was unbreakable and anyone who attempted to break it would always fail.
And when our children tell their story
You will be found
They'll tell the story of tonight
Whoa
No matter what they tell you
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
Telling the story of tonight
The story of tonightWhat the father-son duo didn't notice was the doorway full of Avengers crying because they knew the pain that Tony and Peter felt every day. They understood it, they had felt it themselves.
When Tony and Peter turned and saw the doorway full of Avengers they welcomed them with open arms knowing why they came. It was not because they just wanted to see the duo singing, it was because they all had nightmares that night. They all needed each other.
Peter never thought he would have a family like this, and Tony never thought he would have a family like this, but they were proud to say that they were both wrong about their futures. They would never want it any other way.
Peter loves his father.
Tony loves his son.
And the two love the family that they were apart of.
Because to them, family is everything.
