I stared at myself in the mirror examining every single bruise that was covering my body. I turned around when I heard a knock on my door, and I saw my mother opening the door. She sighed and urged me to sit down and started covering up the bruises that was from last night. I tried to pretend that my father wasn't some alcoholic or that he wasn't abusive in the slightest bit but there's only so much things you can believe yourself. There's only so much denial you can have about the way your life is being.
"Are you okay" My mother asked me and I sighed to myself because I didn't want to lie to her. I was tired of lying to everyone in my life.
"No, when are we going to leave him or at least forced him to go. We don't need him at all" I begged her and mom shook her head.
"Your father just had a hard time with his job and stress is causing him all this stress. He is trying to get a promotion at work" Mom informed me and I rolled my eyes at her. She was in denial.
"He's never going to stop hurting us. I see the way he talks to you. I see the way he grabs you and I see him act like you are his property but you don't deserve it at all" I told her and mom just patted my shoulder before leaving me all alone with my thoughts. I sighed while I plopped down onto my bed. I really didn't want to go to school at all. I had no friends, I was all alone and you know what I realized in my 13 years being on this world is that people are selfish and they only care about themselves. I groaned and got up from my bed with regret and I sighed. I hopped into my shower and let the hot water drip onto my skin. I walked downstairs to see my father and my mom just casually conversing and I rolled my eyes. I didn't want breakfast not with the man who caused so much sorrow and pain in my life but I knew I couldn't escape the house without them noticing me. I just plopped down in a seat in between my father and mother. The talking ended rapidly as soon as I sat down in my assigned seat. I looked around the house I grew up in. The walls were white and light blue and we had a huge island in the kitchen with granite and the hardwood floors that was insulated. I lived in a pretty nice house, I suppose and my family was rich I guess. It runs in the family. My mom was a housewife but my dad was a business man who was more than enough filled with success.
"How did you sleep son" Dad asked me while ruffling my hair and I just glared at him.
"When are you going to stop drinking" I turned to dad refusing to answer any questions that he was asking about my stupid well being because he didn't care. If he did, he wouldn't have beat me to almost death.
"Excuse me" Dad just glared at me before slamming his cup of coffee that he was drinking on the table and mom just sighed.
"Let's not fight about this again, Lyric shows some respect towards your father" Mom commanded me and I just rolled my eyes.
"I'll show respect when he doesn't beat me to oblivion. I show respect when he stops drinking and most of all respect will be there when he treats everyone with kindness" I spat out and that's when my father got up from his seat he glared at me down. Mom just sighed and rubbed her neck.
"You are getting on my nerves Lyric" Dad growled at me and I just rolled my eyes before attempting to grab my bag but that's when dad grabbed onto my arm and I flinched because his grip was hurting me so much that the circulation was being cut off and mom just gave me a sad smile on her face.
"Come on let go of our son" Mom begged Dad and dad pushed mom down and she tried to get him off me. Dad just glared at my mom and that's when I realized that dad wasn't beating people because of the alcohol. He was hurting his family because he was a sick person. I guess I always knew but I always wanted to believe that my father was a good person on the inside but I guess I was wrong. Dad let go of my arm and I rubbed arm down and Dad just grabbed his coat and stormed out of the house. I looked at my mother and she just shook her head.
