It's almost a week since Hemilton passed away, his family held a proper funeral for him. The incident was fast and it's shocking, the family of the deceased is still in a state of shock and grieving. No one saw it coming and no one can stop it..except of this guy who's spacing out in an assembly."Hey Shawn, you okay? You look pale. You're preoccupied and oblivious since we're on our way here." Justin asked his brother beside him.
"Huh? I'm alright, let's just listen to what the coach will announce." he said and smiled to Justin who still isn't pleased and worried about him.
"Alright, everyone settle down" said the instructor with a loud voice, getting all their attention and making all the the trainee hushed.
"The reason why I called for a sudden meeting and gathered all of you here right now is, due to unexpected adieu of one of us, we now have to find someone who will replace his position for the final team."
The clouds are gloomy as the mood in the field. You would expect chattering, loud cheering and happy reaction for the open recruiting from the trainees but they are all in silence, still woeful of what happened, especially those who're close to Mark. But we know inside those avid trainers, they're earnest to take the spot and surely won't lose this chance.
"You'll pick right now, coach? So who could it be?" asked the trainee from Team C with a timorous voice.
"Certainly not, since I've formed you into a team, I want you to stand as a team and then compete against each other."
"Oh shit, here we go" mumbled Joseph.
"Whoever wins in the first test I'll give, I'll choose the final member into that certain team, you'll compete against each other and whoever wins, that'll take the spot into the final team. Well yeah, last man standing." said the coach and chuckled as he said the last sentence.
"To someone who'll make it and get the position, do your best for Hemilton and for us, represent our school." he added.
"The first test starts tomorrow, there are no time to waste because the competition is coming. Alright, gear up and do laps for now. We'll see you tomorrow, are we all clear?"
"Yes, coach!" exclaimed all the trainees.
"Well, I guess competing each other can't be avoided in a situation like this" said Hanz and grin like a cheshire cat.
"Come on guys! No time to waste" Ethan said as team A and the rest of the trainee team runs in the field.
Justin shook his brother's shoulder making him realize they were left behind the line."Come to your senses Shawn, wake up bro. Let's go" Shawn didn't said a thing and they both started running to catch up with the team.
A WEEK LATER
"Hell man, I'm sweating buckets!" Enos mouthed breathing heavily and catching his breath.
"Stop. Stop, let's slow down and ease off for a while." Ethan muttered while getting on his knees.
"Why the hell are those hurdles' so high, it's tall as half of my body! How can I even jumped on it without touching my body?!" Enos exclaimed out of weariness.
"Hey Miller and Hemsmith! Why are you just standing there?! Keep on moving!!" the coach shouted as soon as he saw them taking a break.
"Ohmygod this will lead me to hell, can't we pause for a minute?!" Ethan speak as he and Enos continued to run and go through hurdles approaching.
Among the teams, it seems like team A is leading, all the members are doing a great job. Each team are giving their best out of them, but only one team can win this time. And the winning team is where the last member will be chosen.
It's dawn and the sun is getting down, the competition between teams ended successfully without anyone getting injured. Each team gathered to hear from the coach the results and which team was able to step forward to compete against each other. Each trainee is talking to their teams about how they pulled off the competition while waiting for the coach, everyting is calm but you can feel the tension and how anxious each trainee is for the results.
Meanwhile in Team A's discussion...
"Zian really did a great job a while ago" Dean said complementing Zian.
"No, all of you did a great job and as a leader, I am proud of what we've done to get through this one as a team. Each one of you did a great work today, if we win this one, let's support each other no matter what, atta boys! three cheers for Team A!" he implied and fired up for his team.
"Go Team A!" cheered all of them.
As soon as the coach arrived, all of them are thrilled and nervous simultaneously. Some hold hands on edge, hug each other and shake hands congratulating each other in advance.
"With no further ado, I'll announce who the winning team is." said he.
"The winning team is..."
"Team A!"
Right after they heard their team was announced as winner, they made a group hug and acknowledged each other. They all shouted out of joy as the other teams applaud for them, they were showered with cheers and commendation from the other trainees and their coach.
"I knew we would make it!" Dean exclaimed.
"Congratulations to us!" Jirou added.
The coach left some words for those who weren't able take steps forward to encourage them, "Okay okay, enough. There's more time to celebrate later. It was spendid for all of you today, Team A was outstanding right now but all of the teams did a great job, you can try and do better next time, time will come for all of you. Keep striving!"
Team A is wearing a broad smile and edgy at the same time on what will be their individual competition, they all desire to be in the final team. They've come this far to be earnest and sincere about what they signed up for.
"The individual competetion will start within 3 days, you have enough time to work out and prepare yourselves, better keep on shape. That'll be all. Goodluck Team A!"
"You all did great, guys. Congratulations. We'll be competing with each other soon." Zian told his team, he hugged all of them and give a tap on their backs as a sign of good luck.
"May the best man win, I guess." Hanz said with a wide smile as they all agreed and left the sports field altogether with triumph.
