Chapter 32: Credence

Hanz' POV

"Attention Seeker"

"Attention Seeker"

The intrusive phrase that I said keep on repeating in my head like it's on autopilot. That day when I saw Dean shivering like a leaf on his knees when Enos and I fought is still haunting me.

I'm worried, thinking about how is he doing right now and I don't like it. I remember that one time he wanted to take his own life, I read what's all in that letter of him. That letter contains the Dean he never shows to us, that letter are the things he kept from himself for a long time and left unsaid.

The letter he left in his room is still in my drawer.

It's friday night and the 4th individual test just finished.

After Enos and I had a row and I stormed out of the field, the tension is already gone but we still didn't talk and make up with each other. Hell like I will apologize first, he was the one who's not giving attention around him and bumped into me.

I was walking in the streets sipping the drink that I bought from the convenience store when my phone rang, making all my distress and thoughts went out of my head. It's Shawn. What's he up to in the middle of the night?

I answered the call and spoke to him,

"What's the call, Shawn?"

"Hanz, listen to me. Where's Dean?" he asked as soon as I answered the line.

He called me but he's looking for Dean?

"At home? I don't know, who am I? His bodyguard?" I bawl out to him.

"There's no time, you should listen to me. I saw Dean in my vision taking his own life, he'll commit suicide! We gotta stop him!" he explained in a wobbly voice.

"Vision? Dream? Is that kind of thing even true? What's up to you Shawn? Are you insane?"

"Just listen to me Hanz!! You should trust me in this one. Everything in my vision is going to happen! It's your brother's life we're talking about here!!" he exclaimed in a foghorn-like voice, able to burst my eardrum. He's frightened and yelling like he's about to come out of the phone.

"Alright, I'll listen to you. I'll check Dean on our house. Calm down first." I said.

"Quickly go home and I'll be there in a bit. Hurry!!!" he screamed as he ended the call.

What's up with the people these days? It's because they're watching too much action movies everyday!!

I did as what Shawn said to me since it's like he's too serious to waste his time calling and yelling at me in the middle of the night. Besides, I also want to check on Dean if he's really alright.

I shrugged and started running, I immediately went upstairs as I reached our house. I tried to open Dean's room but it's locked, why is he always locking himself in this solitary room?

"Dean! Open the door!" I shouted as I knocked the door but there's no response.

"Dean!! You will face me or I'll fucking break your door!!" I started to raise my voice and banging into the door.

I knocked and slammed the door many times but there's still no sign of Dean getting out of his goddamn room. I have no choice, I distant myself a bit and started bringing force using my shoulder to the door, but it isn't enough for it to be opened so I kicked it down, finally making myself breakthrough his room. I searched for him all over the area but there's no sign of him inside.

"Where the hell is that guy!" I shouted, I asked the servants downstairs where can I find my brother but they didn't said a thing, means that they also don't know where he is. I was about to go out of our house when Shawn showed up to my face when I opened the door.

"Dean isn't in his room, he's not at home!" I said making his soul more dispirited. Shawn paused a bit like he's thinking of something else in his mind.

"Shoot! I know where Dean is!" he told me making his face all delighted, we went out of our residence and I followed Shawn where is he going.

And he is headed to... our school? We entered the university peacefully, the whole campus is quiet and dark, but there are small light above and the moon is so bright that can able to lead us the way. Our walk brought us to the back of the school, where no one is allowed to enter. We went up through the gate and an old bench covered with tall grasses welcomed us, we walked across the springy turf until we found a tree and a guy who's standing up on a chair with a rope above him, ready to lift him up. It is my brother.

"Dean! Stop on what are you doing!"

Shawn shouted getting my brother's attention to us. He turned to us with a wanly expression on his face, he's crying.

"No. Stop, don't get any closer!" Dean exclaimed in frightened.

"Dean, please. Get down there. I didn't mean everything what I've said. Just please calm down and come down here." I said with a calm voice while looking straight into his teary-eyes.

"Really? But no, I'm still worthless. I can't do anything for my own brother, my family doesn't want me. You don't need me. So there's no purpose why I am still here." he stuttered as he said those words while crying.

"No. I need you." I told him and come closer, I offer my hand for him to take, he looked at me and at my hand, hesitating to take it. When he moved his hands to take mine, I immediately grab him and hugged him.

"I'm sorry. Don't do this again." I said as he hugged me back tight while shedding his tears, making all the pain go out on my shoulder.
