"Here let me help you with that." Ausia, who was now one of your roommates, undid the annoying strap that pressed against your lower back. "You attached it backwards so it twisted." She attached the pesky strap to its original state and tap your back signaling that she completed her task.

"You two are going to be late for breakfast! Better get going!" Hanji peeped into our shared room ensuring that every solider was heading to their next agenda.

"We're coming captain!" You both rushed out the room and follow the rest of your peers to the mess hall.

"So, what made you decide to join the survey corps?" Ausia ran her fingers across the straps that ran down her torso. "You don't have to answer if you'r-"

"No," you kindly grinned as you both turned a corner and entered the bustling dinning hall. "It's not a secret." You began. "I'm just here t-"

"Y/N! AUSIA! OVER HERE!" A fellow squad member stood up and waved both of his hands in the air so it was easy for you two to locate your squad.

"Enzo!" Ausia grabbed your hand as you swept long with the crowd. You nearly bumped into a person making them hold their tray close to their hips.

"Sorry!" You called to the guy. "Come on Ausia, were nearly bumped into that guy."

Ausia, on the other hand, couldn't care less. You finally reached your table. "Scoot Marla." Ausia playfully bumped her hips on Marla's shoulder.

"Ok, ok, let me just..." she popped a slice of bread in her mouth before sliding over to make space for two.

"Are you guys ready for our first mission?" Enzo cheekily grinned as he passed two untouched trays of food.

"Ehh..." you were unsure. Of course you've trained with dummy Titans but the real ones... your haven't seen them in person. Only Papa would tell stories about gigantic mindless human like creatures that would devour humans. His description of his expeditions would still give you the heebie jeebies.

"About you Ausia?"

Your friend just shrugged as she lifted the spoon up to her mouth. A small sigh came from the other end of the table. "I'm more scared than excited to be honest." Kaito groaned.

"Aren't we all?" Marla added. "After all, we are risking our lives for the benefit of humanity." The whole table was in deep thought. You played around with your now empty bowl.

"GOOD MORNING SQUAD!" You all jumped by your captain's expressive greeting.

"CAPTAIN! WARN US BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO SCARE US LIKE THAT!" Enzo grabbed his uniform just above his chest as he attempted to calm himself down.

"I... felt my heart beating it way out of my chest..." Marla pretended to faint and landed into Hansel's arms.

"You guys are overreacting." Hanji rolled her eyes in a lighthearted manner. She walked around the table and waved laced her hands on your shoulders. You looked up to be greeted with her face next you yours. "I have a message..." she whispered in you ear as the squad member conversed with each other. You nodded in response indicating that you were listening. "Captain Erwin would like to have a word with you once you get to bed."

You mouthed an ok before she made her way towards her original table.

I wonder why he wants to speak with me? Did I dont something wrong? No, of course not, I don't think I did.

"Hey Y/N what was that about? What did captain say?" Hansel inquired.

"Oh!" You snapped out of your thoughts. "She just wants me to see Erwin before bed."

"Woah! Do you think that captain Erwin has taken an interest on the one and only Y/N?" Kaito teased; drawing the attention of the other cadets around to look at you.

"Keep it downnn!" You pressed your finger on your pursed lips. The table of six lightly giggled at your reaction making you redden.

"Hey, Hey, I'm sure it's not like that!" Ausia came to your recuse. "But if it is that..." she wiggles her eyebrows and stared deeply into your eyes. "Well, you're in for a treat! Have you seen his jawline?" She tried her best not to squeal.

"Ausia your not helping." You pouted.

A sudden knock on the wooden door startled the small room of three. You quickly got the nightgown over your head and brushed it down before anyone could answer the door.

"Who do you think that might be?" Veera climbed down her bunk to answer the door. She peeped outside to see if the 'stranger was still there'. Her eyes shot open as she opened the door wide to salute a squad leader. "Captain! What brings you here?"

You looked at who was standing at the door. It was one of the squad leaders, Mike. He seemed to sniff the room before calling your name. "Captain Erwin is waiting." In a bland tone he gestured you to join him outside your room.

"It totally slipped my mind sir." You stepped outside with your night gown on and saluted the unfazed man. You turned you head to Veera and Ausia wishing you good luck. They hoped you weren't in any sort of trouble. You continued to follow Mike till you reached the wing where all the higher ranked soldiers lodged. Mike pointed to a tall wooden door hinting that it was Erwin's office. He left you be as you knocked on the door twice. Your heart beat at a rapid pace. As a voice responded on the other side of the door.

"Name?"

"Y/N Lahnet, Sir."

You heard a couple of footsteps drawing closer and closer before the door opened ajar. "Come in Miss Lahnet." The blonde haired man welcome you into his spacious office. You looked at your feet noticing that you were in your nightgown.

"Sir!" In a panicked way you bent over to apologize. "I'm sorry for coming late and also for my indecent appearance. You see, I wa-"

A loud chuckle emitted from is mouth as he motioned you to sit down in front of his desk. "It's alright Lahnet. I don't mind. But please, the next time you are to be summoned, I want you to come in time." His kind stern voice sent you mixed emotions.

"I deeply apologize sir."

"How let's cut to the chase..." he seem to pull out a drawer and grabbed a small stack of neatly folded papers. "Your father..." he began. Your heart sunk we he brought your father up. "He joined the Scouts twelve years ago, is that correct?"

"Yes."

"And your brother Marshal Lahnet, He joined three years ago."

You nodded to confirm his statements.

"What's strange is that you don't really look like them..." the captian pondered.

"I'm adopted." You replied.

"Ah. That makes more sense." He continued to read the paper which made him exhale in a noticeably disappointed way. "Your father and Marshal... they..."

"Were missing in action." You quickly finished his sentence based on the information that you were given. He swayed his head from side to side disagreeing with your assertion. "Wait, what do you mean no, sir?" You fidgeted with the hem of your dress eager to find out what really happened.

"They were both executed." He lowered his voice making sure that the confidential information was only reaching you. You quickly shot up from you seat and slammed your palms on his desk. Erwin was a bit taken back by  your sudden movement.

"What do you mean?!" You shout in a whisper. "Please, tell me why!"
