"You're adoptive mother is the only person alive that knows what truly caused your father's and brother's death." Erwin rubbed his chin in thought. "Erasing her memories was only to keep her mouth shut. Who ever planned the murder of your family thought really hard and well."
You averted your eyes to a corner of his room. The commander sat upright of his white pristine bed as you sat by his bedside. Your mind was like a glass of water brimming with new information. Realization settled in as you furrowed your brows together. "So her memories... it wasn't a natural cause of age..." You pondered out loud. "She did this to protect me.." A rush of bittersweet memories of the day you came home from Miss Mabel's bakery with a loaf of mouthwatering cranberry bread to a mother that completely forgot who you actually were. The sudden thought of your younger siblings and the dangers you brought to your family kept you at the edge of your seat. There was so ways you would put your family in harms way. You had to protect them.
"Perhaps inquiring Mrs. Lahnet through a form of a letter will minimize direct contact if possible. What we want is to keep your family safe as well."
Shaking your head from recalling a conversation you and Erwin had days ago, you placed the folded blanket on your bed. You pulled out a drawer beside your bed and took out an envelope that was already sealed with a white pearlescent wax. The letter you wrote a few nights ago was address to your mother's first and last name. Taking in a whiff of fresh morning breeze, you rushed out of your room, taking the letter with you, to meet up with Levi for a task he suggested you to participate in, yesterday evening.
Briskly walking down the set of stairs to the mess hall, you bumped past a blonde male with a pail of murky water and a clean rag on his other hand. "Oh! Good morning, Captain Lahnet!" Armin brightly chirped as he gave a firm salute.
"Good morning to you too!" You smiled tenderly. You now pieced together what Levi was planning out today. "Looks like it's time to clean the whole place."
Armin nodded. "I'm hoping this time around we don't get scolded as much as last time. That's the only thing I'm not looking forward to." He bashfully mutter earning a chuckle from you.
"I hope so too." You knew Levi was a cleaning freak although you've never gotten a chance to witness it first hand but the little stories over dinner painted the picture. Armin quickly dismissed himself as he made his way upstairs. Turning around the corner, you finally reached the mess hall. Spotting the inky haired man sitting to the side of the whole large hall, you greeted him a good morning. An empty tea cup was set beside him along with a small steaming kettle.
"You sure slept well last night." He shook his head from side to side clearly disappointed in something so minuscule as he brought his cup near his mouth. Taking a short sip of his tea he began again. "And because of that.. you're late." He sighed as you crossed your arms in confusion.
"Late?" You inquired curiously as you took a seat beside him, placing the letter on the table. "I was finishing up a weeks worth of paper work last night... I'm not usually the one to sleep in this late but I guess I was extremely exhausted."
Levi poured you a cup of piping hot tea and inched the cup towards you. "That should be no excuse."
You mouth opened ajar in disbelief. Surely he was teasing you. "No excuse?" You questioned as you lips formed into a sly smile. "Well then, if you wanted me to get out of bed a little earlier... you could've woken me up with kisses." A teasing giggle escaped your lips as you whispered in his ear. With his cup still hovering over his lips, you gave his jaw an aggressive smooch. "Like this..." You continued to pepper his upper neck with damp kisses till his ivory complexion display a bit of red. As your lips met his delicate skin, a smile crawled on your mouth leaving a satisfied moan from your side.
