Chapter 16: Traitor

Radiant beams of sunlight pierced the clouds and the dew that covered the green grassy plains glistened under the galloping horses. Dawn had come.

"I GOT THIS ONE!" Dismounting off your horse, you sliced a Titan's nape with ease. The castle that the groups of scout members hung out during the dreadful night was engulfed with monstrous creature. Crumbled down bricks gathered all over the ground trapping the small evaporating Titan below it.

A loud scream of thrill escaped Eren's mouth. "GOT IT!!!" He swung towards a 5 meter titan. "DIE!!" He yelled as he ripped its nape open with his blades. "Alright! My first kill!!!" He grinned. Before he could fully celebrate, his gear attach itself to a pile of loose ruble causing the boy to face plant into the ground.

"Oh Eren..." You sighed at the boy. "Watch what you're doing next time." A 10 meter class Titan approached you. Jerking your way around the beast. You swung your blades at its nape.

"Oh right! I'm sorry!" Eren apologized as you proceed to take two more titans down.

Within an hour, the hoard of titans that once surrounded the vast area were irradiated. Charcoal looking bodies slowly evaporated into this air. You accompanied Hanji who kneeled before an extremely injured cadet. Another blonde girl was with her as she sat down to hold her comrade. "Ymir?" Your eyes widened at the young lady's life threatening wounds. You noticed a faint mark that covered her eyelids. Those marks would only belong to a shifter who ripped themselves out of their Titan body. She's a shifter too?

"My real name... is Historia." The girl who you once knew as Krista revealed her true name. Tears trickles down her ivory complexion; behind her was the castle that had been completely destroyed.

[12 hours earlier]

"Well, I was able to get my hands on Annie Leonhart's background report." Hanji held the documents that Sasha delivered to her. In a few minutes we were all going to head for the Castle that the rest of the scouts troops camped in. "It's taken so long to get because these reports are a mess right now. According to this, there were two others belonging to the 104th Cadet Corps who came from the same area as her." Hanji's paused before reading off the paper. "Those two are, Reiner Braun and Bertolt Hoover." The 104th batch's mouths dropped from the news. I can't believe those two under went my training. "Thanks to the chaos five years ago, pretty much all of their family records are either missing or incomplete." Hanji nearly places the lined stack of papers down at the table. "During the 57th expedition, where we all dispersed into long range formation, their unit was given false information. They were among those that were purposely told that Eren was located at the right wing."

"The female titan attacked from the right wing!" Armin added.

"How is that possible?" Sasha inquired.

"It's possible they passed on that information to Annie..."

"What? Why tell Annie?"

"Hey, wait a minute, Armin!" Eren intruded. "You can't just-"

"I know that, Eren. But that not enough to prove anything." Hanji spoke. "So just in case, I'd like to hear from you how these interacted during training. Know anything?"

"I know Reiner and Bertolt were from the same place, but they didn't seem close to Annie." Armin answered.

"I agree, I don't recall ever seeing the pair talking to Annie that much." Eren mutter. "Well, Annie wasn't much of a talkative person in the first place."
