I was patiently waiting for Sean to call me but it was eleven o'clock at night and he still didn't call. When the clock hit the 11:50 pm, I took my cellphone and went to the veranda.

When the countdown started, I quickly grabbed my phone and composed a happy new year greeting for Sean because I wanted to greet him exactly at twelve o'clock. 

When the time hit twelve o'clock, I immediately sent my message and looked up at the sky to watch those firework displays that can be seen from here in my room.

I was admiring the fireworks display when my phone vibrated. I smiled when I saw Sean's name on my screen. Mabilis kong sinagot ang tawag niya.

"Happy new year!" I greeted him.

Narinig ko siyang mahinang tumawa mula sa kabilang linya. "Happy new year."

"Kakauwi niyo lang? What are you doing now?" nakangiting tanong ko. "I'm currently watching fireworks display."

"I know," he told me. I heard him laugh a little. "Look down."

I quickly looked down and was surprised to see him standing there. He waved his hands when our eyes met. I was stunned.

"How did you get there?" I asked in shock.

"I boarded a plane," he joked. "Aren't you coming down yet? I missed you so bad."

I ran downstairs and headed outside. He immediately greeted me with a tight hug.

"I missed you," he whispered to me.

"You didn't tell me!" naiinis na sabi ko. 

"Surprise," natatawang sabi niya bago kinuha ang paperbag mula sa backseat. "This is my gift."

I opened it. It was a hand-painted mug and a customized keychain with a picture of us. There were also clothes from the known brands pero mas nakuha ng keychain ang atensyon ko.

"Thank you!" I giggled. "I love it so much!"

"I know," he told me while smiling.

"Well, I don't have your gift with me but I wanted to give you something right now," sabi ko bago bahagyang nag-isip. "How about I grant you a wish? Tell me your wish, please."

"I don't really have a wish," he said.

"Come on, for sure meron naman."

"Aside from being your boyfriend, wala naman na akong ibang gusto," he laugh before pinching my nose.

Tumikhim ako bago umayos ng tayo at seryosong tumingin sa kanya. 

"W-well, your wish is easy to fulfill," I said, enough for him to hear it.

Naramdaman kong dahan-dahan siyang tumingin sa akin pagkatapos kong sabihin iyon. 

"What do you mean?"

"I'm already granting your wish."

Saglit siyang natigilan. Pinanood ko kung paanong kumunot ang noo niya habang sinusubukang intindihin ang sinabi ko. 

"Does that mean..."

"Happy New Year!" nakangiting bati ko.

He can't contain his smile as he pulled me for a tighter hug. 

"Are you happy?" tanong ko sa kanya nang kumalas ako sa yakap.

"I am beyond happy," nakangiting sagot niya.

I felt his hand around my waist. I smiled and held his hand before slightly leaning on his chest. He rested his chin on my left shoulder before whispering in my ear.
