THIRTY NINE

Pax and I have been really busy for the past week, wedding preparations and all. The wedding will take place in Brazil. Pax and I have also agreed to make time for each other. Kapag kaya pa ng oras, magkikita kami araw-araw kahit saglit lang.

I appreciate his efforts to make us work, but I know we’re only forcing things.

Mabuti na lang din at nandito si Rucy para tumulong. It must have been hard for her.

“Are you done with the guest list?” tanong sa’kin ni Rucy

I don’t have any guest. “Dad said he’ll take care of it.”

He considered it a vacation nung puro gala ang ginawa namin araw-araw. Ngayon balik na ulit siya sa trabaho, dumagdag pa ang kasal namin.

Pupuntahan namin ngayon ni Rucy ang napili naming caterer. Sa Japan lang ‘yan kasi may pupuntahan rin kaming caterer sa Brazil bukas. Pax will be here to fetch me, he wants us to go to his hometown together.

Dad hired two wedding planners. Ayaw niyang mawala ang essence ng Japanese culture sa kasal, gusto niya balanced yung theme. Japanese and Brazilian people will mostly be there.

Pati chefs, may hapon at brazilian din, kahit nga location ng pre nup namin sa brazil at japan din.

Hinayaan ko si Rucy na maghusga sa mga pagkain nila. I eat japanese food but just a few. Si Rucy ang mas merong alam pagdating sa Japanse food, kaya siya na lang din ang kuma-usap sa kanila.

Habang naghihintay na matapos sila, biglang tumunog ang phone ni Rucy at pinasa sa’kin.

Tiningnan ko muna saglit yung screen. “Yes Pax?”

“I just arrived.” napatingin ako sa aking wrist watch. “I won’t be late. Can you go first? So you can talk with the photographer.”

“Of course, that’ll save us time.”

“See you later. Love you.”

I ended the call without a word.

I love you can be said half meant, or even if you don’t mean it. That’s how shallow I love you is nowadays.

Dinig kong papalapit si Rucy. “You done?”

I handed her, her phone. “Yeah, we’ll have to comeback for the final tasting. So what did Pax say?”

“He wants us to go first so I can have some little chitchat with the photographer.”

Mukha siyang pagod. “Okay let’s go! Pax and I still… I mean you, still have somewhere to go after the photo shoot.”

Rucy have put a lot of effort in our wedding so I can’t blame her if she’s tired. Napagkamalan nga siyang bride kaysa sa’kin. Hindi kasi ako excited sa kasal namin. Mas interesado pa nga siya sa mga pangyayari e.

I salute her kung pati sa pre nup photo shoot namin, manonood pa rin siya.

“Hello Hayes Mendoza, your one and only photographer.”

I was expecting for a hand shake pero bigla siyang nagbeso sa’kin. Did not expect that.

“I’m Rucy Tanaka. I was the one who emailed you.”

So this is the famous Hayes Mendoza.

“So you’re the bride.” he studied me from head to toe. “You look dazzling. We have talked on the phone right and discussed everything, except for one thing. You haven’t picked a wedding dress for this photo shoot.”
