Blackout

There's many sounds.

People talking and feet moving across the pavement.

The way this chair squeaks when you lean back in it or the spoon hitting the sides of the coffee mug.

This is a normal day.

The café a necessity during my morning routine.

A nice Caramel Macchiato does the deal.

The coffee makers constantly running and waitresses taking orders.

Sound is continuously going.

The bill had been presented to me.

As I'm putting the cash on the table, I drop a dollar.

I bend over to get it,

but everything goes silent.

All around is black with a beam of light from the middle.

The chair is still here but nothing else.

No people or buildings.

Just the noiseless area.

What happened?

Did I hit my head?

I blink and stand up,

and walk out of the café.
