The sun has just outstretched its arms far and wide into the sky

The rays of the sky greet the clouds with a subtle high five

The day has begun for the world

but not mine

My world doesn't begin until I hear pitter patter on the floor

My own personal parrot is awake "Wake up, daddy" is what he speaks to me faithfully

I oblige

no matter the day before, no matter the amount of sleep I lack, no matter the brain cells I feel didn't quite regenerate right because I don't give them enough time to replenish and come back

Catering to his every whim because he's only two and yes he looks to be the size of 3 going on to 33 but I have to cater to his needs after all I am daddy and he is my baby... no matter the headaches, no matter the heartaches, he's never a mistake but sometimes daddy needs a break

Enter "Grandmommy"

Grandmommy is the woman amongst boys

Grandmommy opens the blinds and she smiles brighter than the sun

The birds chirp giving that million dollar smile applause

I applaud even louder

Cause when daddy needs a break, I can count on her

She takes personal parrot baby and whisks him away to their own little personal place

Filled with play for him, and some Mary J. (Blige) for her

She teaches, disciplines, and raises him just like she did me

She never ceases to amaze our little family tree

Because personal parrot baby goes from awake and running rapidly to way too tired and just wants to sleep

I ask her all the time what's the secret?, how does she have such great luck?

The only answer I ever receive is "Grandma's Touch"
