"Are you ready kids .... I can't hear you"
how my Saturday mornings started faithfully
that show and a bowl Of cereal
got me through plenty of times from
school stress
before I had to dress myself for school stress
before I had that 9:30 AM math test school stress
Now I miss that school stress
Now it's can I pay my bills stress
Do I have the will to succeed stress
Do I believe stress
I miss my childhood stress
I miss rushing to get home to catch the land before times stress
now I wonder will I get caught on this land as if it's illegal to be brown-skinned,
Some would say it is
I've got the plight of a black man stained on my flesh
Every day we got to fight against low pay, and a war waged on us by the government
Institutionalized racism at our necks
We can't rest like the rest because rest is for the weary and we are already as weary as can be fending off so many enemies we are swinging blindly in the dark
We don't care who are hits connect with as long as someone else feels our stresses
Even if we do damage to ourselves because we get a little reckless
We'd rather 10/10 it be us vs us than us vs U.S
I miss the school kid stressors
I could be ignorant to the world around and all quiet all the noise and fuss
What a world we in now where you better be a warrior of social justice or who knows what could be left of us
