Josephine's P.O.V
My eyes flickered open. I was in and out of sleep all night. But this time the sound of a car pulling up to my house woke me up.
I got up and looked out the window and gasped. There was a long white sleek limousine waiting outside of my house. What was it doing there?
It was 1:00 but I glanced at the envelope again and decided to open it this time. I pulled out a white card with fancy writing that read,
Josephine Jones, you are invited to the underground bunker to join us in a revolution of a lifetime. Today your life is going to change forever. Come join us as we celebrate a new beginning. We can hardly wait for you to join our team.
What "new beginning" and "revolution?" This made no sense. I didn't have any time for this. I grabbed my black hoodie and put it on. Then I went downstairs to politely tell them to leave before my parents woke up.
When I got there two large men in black suits were already waiting and opened the door for me.
"Look I don't know what you guys are doing here but you have to leave."
"Miss, you are Josephine Jones correct?"
"Yes, but you guys still have to-"
Before I could even blink I was lifted and thrown into the limousine. My head hit the side of the window and I watched as they closed the door and headed off.
I got up and began to yell and scream. I pounded on the windows. "Let me out!! When I get out you're going to be sorry!"
The window was rolled down just slightly and I could make out a man that was in a suit holding a glass of champagne. "Could you please keep it down, love?"
"Who the hell are you?! Get me out of this car right now!"
He didn't say anything. Just smiled at me and took another sip of his champagne.
I felt a sharp pinch on my neck and suddenly I couldn't really see straight. My eyelids felt very heavy and I fought to keep them open.
"Ahh... that's much better. Don't worry love, we're almost there."
Then everything went dark.
******
I woke up in a bed made of silk. The lights were dim and I blinked my eyes twice to adjust to the new setting. My neck throbbed and I rubbed the sore spot.
I had no reconciliation of what happened and I tried to trace back the moments that happened before this but everything up until now was a blur.
There was a sickening twist in my stomach and I caught my breath. I needed to get out of here and get back home. I headed for the door and began to walk quickly.
Soon my pace quickened and before I knew it, I was in a full-on sprint. Someone ran into me and I lost my footing and fell.
"Oh, I'm so sorry miss." The young boy helped me on my feet.
"It's fine. I should have watched where I was going." My head was spinning. The floor felt as if it was slipping underneath me and I tried to stand straight.
"Are you ok?" The boy held me firmly and looked into my eyes. Wow. His eyes were beautiful and I found myself getting lost in them.
He smiled at me. "Carter Williams. You're Josephine Jones right?"
"Yeah. How do you know my name?"
He smiled meekly at me. "I sent out the invitations."
"Oh. What is this place anyway?"
His voice grew bubbly. "Miss Jones, you're about to find out. But first, let me get you some water."
He gave me a chair to sit on. I sat down and laid my head back closing my eyes. There was a splitting pain in my head.
