Josephine's P.O.V"Here."
I snap my eyes back open. "Thank you." I drank my water. I was already feeling better.
"So what is this place?"
He grinned at me. Man, he was handsome I was getting light-headed just looking at him for too long.
He frowned. "What I should be asking you is what happened to you and who did it."
I furrowed my eyebrows trying to think. "I..I don't remember. Why does it matter to you anyway? You don't even know me."
"That doesn't mean you deserve what happened to you."
"How do you know that?"
"No one deserves to be hurt. No matter how bad they are. We don't get to decide who gets hurt and who doesn't."
I disagree.
"You didn't answer my question. What is this place?"
His brown eyes crinkled at the corners. "What's your story?"
"My story?"
"They had to have recruited you for a reason."
"Recruit me?"
"What do you want for this world, Josephine Jones?"
Was he just going to dodge all my questions?
"I don't know."
He shook his head. "You know exactly what you want."
I rolled my eyes. I was getting frustrated now. "What is this place?"
There was a huge roar of noise that was coming from the dark hallway and the loud music that was playing stopped.
Carter gave me a smirk and I caught my breath. "Josephine Jones you're about to find out."
He grabbed my wrist and led the way. "Come on! It's about to start."
I don't know when but somehow I lost Carter in the crowd of people and I was lost. Everywhere I turned there was someone new to bump into. I pulled my hoodie up on top of my head and shoved my hands into my pocket.
To my instinct, I followed the distant noise and was in a large auditorium. I went into the swarm of people to get a closer look.
Then I saw on the stage a tall, lean man dressed in white fitted tee and blue jeans. He raised his hand and the whole room was silent. "Are you guys ready to be apart of the revolution!!"
Then I remembered. How could I forget that voice? That accent.
That was the man from the limo that abducted me from my home and drugged me. The man in a suit and tie.
I clenched my hand into a fist. Then gritted my teeth. Suddenly I couldn't hear anything anymore or think. I was just angry. I slowly pushed through the crowd to get to the front.
"Now I know a lot of you are probably wondering why are you here? Why were you chosen? I am Samuel Brown and I am here to tell you why."
"You were chosen because you don't back down. You all fight for what is right!" He made eye contact with me for a brief second.
But in that second it caused my stomach to flip and my skin boiled.
"We're aren't just any activist group."
Ok, now it was time to get out of here. I was almost to the door when I stopped.
"Have you ever been abused? Ignored? Forgotten? Have you ever felt like you couldn't do anything? That you were powerless?"
I turned around and continued to listen. "All of that is about to change because.. We. Are. The Indomitable!!"
"You all have the chance to do something great! We are fighting for the women who feel that they don't have a voice and the men that feel that they need to sulk in the shadows. Today you become a part of a movement that is not only going to save the world but us."
The crowd was cheering and applause followed after. Everyone around me began to chanting. "Indomitable! Indomitable! Indomitable!"
My head was swimming. I relaxed on the wall behind me.
What did I just get pulled into?
