Carter's P.O.V

My aching eyes slowly open and I grit my teeth at the intense pain that surged through my body. How long was I knocked out? Hours? Minutes? Days? I shook my head and tried to think positively.

Luna probably got Josephine out by now and was already on her way back. A smile found it's way to my face because at least someone that I cared about was safe for once.  I scooted towards the wall and rested my head on it. Then I closed my eyes.

"Good you're awake."

Ugh. Really? This guy again? He walked towards me and grabbed my face. His green eyes bore into mine and I feel his hot breath touching my skin. Looks like someone had burritos for lunch.

"Now if you would like to live you better answer my next question."

I didn't reply. If I had the strength to, I would have rolled my eyes.

"What is your name and what are you doing here?"

"My name is Carter Williams."

He dropped his hold on me and looked at me wide-eyed. "What?"

"My name is Carter Williams."

He quickly backed away from me and rushed out of the cell door. He almost forgot to lock it in the process. He stumbled over his feet and pounded down the hall. I went back to relaxing. Finally happy to have some peace and quiet.

Footsteps filled the silence. A strong thick voice spoke. "So it's really you. Wow, what a handsome young man you have become. Your hair is no longer the golden blonde it used to be when you were a little boy."

This really wasn't the time for any surprises. But it wasn't like I had a choice.

I opened one eye and stared at a tall and muscular yet skinny man standing in front of me. He had a dirty blonde beard and fiery blue eyes.

No way. It couldn't be.

"Uncle Jack?"

He chuckled. "I was scared for a moment that you didn't remember me."

"You're supposed to be dead."

He just smiled and continued talking. "I didn't think that Samuel would have you involved in all of this. What about school? You still play soccer right?"

"I dropped out of school in the eighth grade and had a personal tutor."

"Huh." He stroked his beard. "So you're saying that your father took away your childhood just so he could get back at me?"

My heart sank. But I quickly recovered. "He took me out of school in order to protect me. So he could stop you and save thousands of lives."

Jack clasped his hands together and laughed. "Aw come on now. If I didn't do it. Someone else would have."

"You and I both know what you're doing is wrong."

"And what your father does is right?" I wanted to punch him right then and there. Not because I was angry but because he was right.

"I'm not the only one that has caused death by my hands."

"What the hell do you want?"

"You know what I want Carter." He stepped towards me and faced me so we were at eye level. "I want to stop your father. I want the Indomitable crushed. I want to stop the revolution."

"That's never going to happen."

A smile spread across his face. "I want ...Samuel Brown dead."

I gulped. Confusion is gone. My confidence low. No matter how many times I tried to ignore it. The uneasy feeling that he gave me stayed. The anger coursing through my veins. Bubbling just beneath the surface. Ready to disperse and take control of me.

"You'll never get away with it!"

He got up and began to walk out of the prison. "Oh please. I was able to kill your mother. Murdering Samuel should just take a few minutes."

Jack flashed me another one of his infamous smiles and I lunged towards him, hitting metal.

Then I sunk to the floor and cried.
