Josephine's P.O.VThe small opening that was placed in the middle of the silver-gray walls was opened and a tray of food was pushed through it. I shuffled towards it greedily.
No utensils.
I kicked the tray aside and shook my head. They wouldn't give me anything that could help me try and escape. Not after last time.
I paced around the room and tried to figure out my next step or what they were planning on doing with me. They couldn't keep me here forever. I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes.
I tried to think but my mind kept racing back and forth, trying to figure out what was happening outside of these walls. But most specifically what they were going to do with me. The door was opened and I fell over, landing on my face.
"Let's go, Josephine."
I got up from the floor and rubbed my aching elbows. It was from Jack Julian.
"What do you want."
"You didn't get a proper introduction inside the Dark Horse facility."
"The Dark Horse what?"
He didn't reply. He was already walking down the hallway. I jogged to keep up with him. When I had finally caught up I stomped beside him. What was wrong with everyone that I was meeting nowadays?
Everyone was acting like it was normal to watch people die and dispose of bodies. Not to mention that using a weapon or throwing a punch was like second nature to them. None of this was right. Innocent people were dying and I was doing nothing about it.
"Jack Julian."
"Yes," He grumbled. There was definitely something else on his mind.
"Why didn't you kill me?"
He sighed. "Because I need you."
I shuddered. "Hate to break it to you but I definitely don't feel that way about you. So if you think that-"
"Not like that Josephine."
He shook his head. "Kids." He mumbled under his breath.
It was like when I thought that I knew what was going on. I realized that I didn't know anything at all. "Okay well. Why do you need me?"
Once again he didn't reply.
"Hello? Did you hear me?"
He ignored me. "We're here."
We walked into this room. There was a bunch of isles of metal cages. On the other side, there were targets. Jack handed me a pair of earmuffs.
"Put these on."
"Why? What are we doing?"
"I'm going to show you how to use a gun."
There was a sudden coldness that hit the pit of my stomach and I gulped. "No."
"If you don't know how to use a gun how will you defend yourself?"
"I can defend myself just fine."
He gritted his teeth. "You're so stubborn. You can't out punch a bullet, Josephine. You can't outrun one either."
"Fine."
He handed me a pistol and grabbed one himself. He showed me how to unlock it.
Click.
"Now you're going to face the gun at your target and make sure to hold it steady with both hands."
