Samuel's P.O.V

Great. Nothing was going as plan. The Dark Horses had finally caught up to me. They had the upper hand and I hated being second. I don't know how Jack Julian did it but he got me. Thankfully I still had the best recruits in the nation and dozens of supplies.

But if he got more donors than me...

I already knew exactly what he would do. Have me killed and steal all of my recruits. Then instead of saving young women from trafficking and make sure those rich bastards never see daylight again.

He would start his own trafficking business and make millions.

I looked at the picture frame on my desk that had my beautiful wife in the middle of me and my son.

My own son thought I was a monster.

He was probably right.

I had done some unforgivable things and forced him to do the same. But what he didn't understand was that in order to stay alive in this business undetected I had to.

We had to.

But now looking back. I should have just kept my son out of it. He said it wasn't too late but it was. The Dark Horses had stolen some of my files and now had the addresses to all the girls that we have ever saved.

They made friends with my enemies and sure enough, they would all come for me.

How could I trust anyone when my own brother Jack, deceived me?

How did he get in? Doesn't matter now because whatever mole he dragged in here was definitely dead by now. We were going to have a war and might lose.

But he for once didn't have everything.

I had Josephine Jones.

The face of our revolution even though she a pain in the ass. I had to be strict with her. But I definitely went too far. I just wanted her to respect me and have some discipline.

She had to know fear because without it. She was going to end up dead. At times she reminded me a lot of my wife. Stubborn and headstrong. But what was I going to do? We were running out of time and training her was not going to be quick.

It also didn't help that my son had a huge crush on her.

There was a soft knock on the door.

"Come in." A scrawny boy with dark hair and green eyes came holding up pieces of paper.

"You have mail, sir."

"Just leave it on my desk."

"Yes sir." He then quickly rushed out of the room. I pushed them aside when one of them caught my eye.

A black envelope.

I tore it open and pulled out one piece of white paper with eight words that were enough to send a sickening feeling in my stomach. I gulped and crushed the paper between my hands.

We have Josephine Jones. Surrender now or she dies.

And it was signed by the devil himself.

Jack Julian.

I threw all my papers off the desk and kicked my desk to the floor.

Dammit, Jack! It was going to be a huge risk and I might lose my two top agents if this didn't work and they failed.

I was going to have to send Carter and Luna into the Dark Horses Cage. It was the only way.

Oh no!! What could all of this mean?!! Do you guys feel bad for Samuel or Nah...
