Carter's P.O.V
Something was wrong. Josephine never checked in today. What had happened? I didn't know where else to look. I had looked everywhere.
As a last resort, I went to Luna for help. She was having a go at the punching bag. It already was broken.
Sometimes I wonder why she still even comes to practice. She definitely doesn't need it anymore. Samuel should have appointed her as a mentor.
"Luna."
"Williams. What do you want?"
"Do you by any chance know where Josephine is?"
"No? Who wants to know? Is Samuel concerned?"
"He doesn't know yet."
"You should tell him. He's going to be pissed."
"When is he not mad at me? Do you know where she is?"
"There's a million other newbies who need help today."
"Luna!"
She sighed and finally stopped destroying the punching bag so she could face me. "She kinda shook the other day. Samuel did a number on her. But my bet is she quit."
I began to panic and my breath quickened. "She couldn't have quit! You know what Samuel does if someone quits."
Luna just shrugged her shoulders at me and continued on with her punching bag. What was I going to do if she did? It would be another death at the hands of my father.
If what I feared was true the next one on the list to be dead would be him.
"Hey, Williams!"
"Yeah?"
"Be careful."
"What?" "You know the rules. No dating. Ever." "What are you even talking about Luna?" "Don't act dumb. You and I both know that you like her."
