C H A P T E R F I F T E E N

May kumatok sa kwarto mo, at napatigil kayo ni Julian sa pagtawa. "Pasok!" ang sabi n'ya.

Bumukas ang pinto, at pumasok si Cinto. "Ate, kuya, baba na daw po kayo sabi ni mama. Magdidinner na daw po. Tsaka dumating na din po si papa." Tumayo kayong dalawa sa kama at bumaba na kaming tatlo. Tito Fern was there, complimenting tita Feli as usual. The first time you seen them being all lovey dovey, you found it very cute. Hanggang ngayon din naman, ang cute nilang dalawa. Almost 28 years of being married, yet they act like it was still their first year of being married.

Tito Fern saw you with the boys, and he smiled widely. "Aba! Andito pala ang 'bestfriend' ni Julian!" he said. "Tito naman eh!" ang sabi mo habang nagmamano ka sa kanya.

"Oh, hali na kayo't kumain na tayo." Tita Feli said while bringing a pitcher of iced tea to the table. "Tumabi ka sa'kin," bulong ni Julian sa'yo. "Oka-"

"Ate! Tabi tayo, pleeeaaaase!" Napatingin ka kay Cinto, his pleading eyes looking straight at yours. "Ah..." Napatingin ka kay Julian, tapos balik kay Cinto. "Oh, sige! Sa gitna n'yo 'ko ng kuya Julian mo." Cinto smiled widely, and all of you gathered on the table.

You all said grace, and began to dig in. All throughout the dinner, nagkukwentuhan kayo lahat at nagbibiruan. "Ba't kasi 'di pa kayo? Bagay kaya kayong dalawa!" Pabirong sinabi ni Tita Fely. Ngumiti lang kayo ni Julian. Napansin mo si Goyo na tumitingin din sa inyo at nakangiti.

"Time for dessert!" Cinto exclaimed. "Ako na kukuha sa ref." Tumayo si Goyo sa kanyang kinauupuan, at tumungo sa ref. "Ate, since you came to visit, gumawa si mama ng favorite mong dessert!" Cinto exclaimed, and Julian pouted. "Halata talagang mas favorite ka ni mama." Napatawa ka na lang sa kanyang sinabi.

Goyo came back with a tray of mango float, and your eyes glistened at the sight of it. "Wow! Thank you so much tita!" you said, your wide smile plastered on your face.

While everyone was eating, Julian cleared his throat, catching everyone's attention. "Ma, naaalala mo ba yung sinabi ko last time? Na may ipapakilala ako sa in'yo?"

"Ay, oo. Yung nililigawan mo?" Sagot ni tita. You glanced at Goyo, and he obviously knows what's going on.

Julian smiled. "Well, Ma, Pa, Goyo, bunso..." Everyone was staring at him, including you. Pucha, may pa-suspense moment pa talaga, del Pilar??

"Meet my girlfriend." He said while he wrapped his arm around your shoulders. Tito Fern was a little slow to process at what Julian meant, but tita Feli was tearing up with joy. Goyo smiled widely. "YES KUYA!" He exclaimed, and the both of them high-fived.

"Seryoso na ba talaga?" Tito Fern asked, and the two of you nodded. Tito Fern boomed with laughter, stood up from his seat, and gave the two of you a hug.

"Parang kami lang ng mama mo, nagsimula din sa magbestfriends." ang sabi n'ya. Umiiyak pa rin sa tuwa si Tita Feli nung niyakap na n'ya kayong dalawa. "Alam na alam ko na talaga noon pa na kayong dalawa ang magkakatuluyan."

Biglang tumalon si Goyo sa likod ni Julian. "'Di ka man lang nagsabi, kuya! Kaya pala hindi ka na tumatawag eh!"

"Syempre, para masorpresa ko naman kayo." sagot ni Julian.

Nagsipasukan na kayo sa nga kwarto n'yo, at humiga ka na sa kama mo. Nawala na ang lahat ng kaba na naramdaman mo kanina, at masaya ka sa nating reaksyon ng pamilya, kahit na alam mo naman na ganon ang magiging reaksyon nila noon pa lang.

You scrolled on your playlists on your phone, and tapped on one. The first song played, and you closed your eyes.

Maya-maya ay may narinig kang katok sa pinto mo. Bumangon ka't nakita mo si Julian na pumsasok sa kwarto mo. "Oh, ba't ka nandito?" tanong mo sa kanya. "Bakit? Bawal bang bisitahin ang girlfriend ko sa kwarto n'ya?"

Kinuha n'ya yung gitarang nakasandal sa pader ng kwarto, at umupo sa tabi mo. Nakangiti lamang s'ya sa'yo. "Anong pasabog na naman 'to, Julian?"

"Patayin mo yung music mo." You did as he said, and he placed the guitar in his lap, and near his chest. "I'm gonna play something."

You crossed your legs as he strummed the first chords of the song, glancing at you while he did. You had a small smile on your face.

Your smile grew wider, as he kept on singing. Kinikilig ka, at nararamdaman mo kung gaano ka n'yang pinapahalagahan.

He was staring at you now, his eyes soft. You swore your heart wrenched for a while. You felt scared of losing him, you're scared of losing the glimmer that he has in his eyes.

I hate to break it to you, but it's just the other way around

You lift your hand, and cupped his cheek. He leaned in your touch, and he closed his eyes for a while, then opened them.

You can thank your stars all you want, but I'll always be the lucky one

He finished the song, and he looked at you. "Oh, ba't naiiyak ka?" he asked, cupping your face with his large hands. Ngumiti ka lang, at hinawakan ang mga kamay n'ya. "Wala... Natouch lang ako sa kanta mo eh..."

Julian raised his brows at you, knowing that there's more you have to add to that. You exhaled, and smiled.

"At natatakot lang ako."

Umayos ng pag-upo si Julian, as if knowing that this is something serious. "Ba't ka naman natatakot, mahal?" he asked. Your tears fell, and you pouted. Julian smiled softly. "Natatakot ako na mawala ka. Natatakot ako na mawala yung pagmamahal d'yan sa mga mata mo. Natatakot ako na magsawa ka sa'kin".

Natawa si Julian sa huli mong sinabi. "Grabe naman 'to! Tatlong taon na tayong magkasama, ngayon pa talaga ako magsasawa?" Hinalikan ka n'ya sa noo, at tumitig sa mga mata mo.

"Hinding hindi ako magsasawa sa'yo, at hinding hindi kita bibitawan. Mahal na mahal kita eh, at jackpot ako sa'yo. Papakawalan pa ba kita? Syempre hindi na."

You smiled, and said,

"I love you more."
