You knew what to expect when you thought of visiting the mental institution you once worked for; you really did. Hell, you even discussed it with Bakugou via text last night.
However, you still shrunk behind two of your class' strongest students when you entered the facility, not missing the frightened, worried, and conflicted glances of your ex co-workers. Despite knowing the reactions you'd be presented with, you can't help but be affected by them.
At some point, yes, you thought of them as friends.
To think that they were quick to turn tails from a mistake you have no control over.
It wasn't your fault..! But...
Was it really?
"OI! STOP FUCKING STARING AND GET BACK TO WORK!" You visibly flinched at Bakugou's yelling, as did the building's workers who were present at the lobby, not expecting him to suddenly lash out. They would've scolded him, but they were admittedly at fault first for rudely staring. Comically enough, they obeyed, but not before sparing you one last look that can hold different meanings, translated by the courtesy of your mind's anxiety.
Todoroki noticed your jumpy, and frankly, nervous frame, to which he just responded by landing a reassuring grip on your shoulder, causing for you to relax your tensed figure.
Letting out a sigh, you continued to trudge forward, as the ash blonde would glare at those who have the courage to land any form of eye contact at your small group, while your bi-haired classmate tried to protectively block you off from others' sight, mostly walking at your side that's parallel to the most populated part of the room.
The heterochromatic-eyed male was the first to reach the counter, asking for the room of Todoroki Rei, to which the receptionist managed to stutter out a reply, glancing back and forth between the asked patient's son, to you. However, when his sight landed on Bakugou's crimson eyes, he kept his head down the whole conversation. Still, what you dreaded to hear escaped from his lips despite the intimidation.
"A-although, (L/n)-san, I'm not sure if you're a-allowed to visit them anymore, u-unless you're invited."
"Ah." That was all you really managed to utter out, before mindlessly turning to exit the place. However, a calloused hand gripped your arm in time before you could even walk.
"No way in fucking hell are you leaving without seeing any of your damn patients," Katsuki growled, before hauling you in front of the counter. "You heard him: he said he ain't sure, and we're taking that chance. Now sign whatever the hell you sign and get this over with."
"But Bakugou, I ca--"
"I will fight the receptionist if h--"
"Please don't do that." You quickly chided, as he just crossed his arms stubbornly, while the clerk was absolutely petrified that a fifteen-year-old was quick to suggest such immediate violence.
"Then I'll invite her." Todoroki finally spoke up, causing for you to look at him with astonishment and relief. Finally, a solution to get what you want without fighting.
"Ah, sorry sir, but you misunderstand. It has to be the patient to invite her." The clerk clarified, as your dual-haired friend hummed in thought. However, what he said next caught both you and Bakugou off-guard, causing for the latter to have his palms ignite in small fireworks at Shouto's claim.
"I'm sure my mother would like to have my fiance visit her,"
"Uh..?"
"HAAH?!"
