Dinner was quiet, with you cutting a small portion of your omurice before shoving the said food in your mouth. Usually, you were alone every dinner-- or in any meal time at home, actually.
Your mother was often busy with her multi-shifted hero work, and you barely got a glimpse of her, unless you wake up early just to see her about to leave. It was... pitiful, really. You even wondered how your mother managed to take care of you when you were younger and not fully capable to care for yourself. But then maybe she didn't, and you had to mature quickly at such a young age. Even if that was the case that you can't remember then, you can't really blame her. After all, she did all she could do as a single parent to provide, and you ought to thank her for times she'd try to squeeze you in her free time even if she was beyond exhausted-- both mentally and physically-- that even your kiss wouldn't have any effect on her (it actually does, but she doesn't feel like doing anything; so, she spends her free time with you by either watching a movie together or just by cuddling).
Her hero work is kind of underpaid, the main reason why she occupies many shifts-- even on Sundays. Due to many heroes appearing, it's difficult to get public recognition. After all, that's where the job lies; popularity and fame. The more famous you are, the more you're paid by the government. Unfortunately, your mother doesn't really lie in the popular position. She's more of a rescue hero than a combat hero, now that you think about it. You're even quite surprised that Ochaco recognizes the name: "Shockwave", and to add the fact that your mother is her favorite hero. Second week of school, and Uraraka already managed to have a room in your heart that could rival Midoriya's, and that's saying something due to the fact that the greenette was your dear childhood friends.
You wish they were here to eat with you right now, just like earlier at lunch.
"This is so lonely..." You humorlessly chuckled to yourself, suddenly feeling depressed, but immediately replaced your ghost frown with a small smile. That's right; you wear a smile to not worry others-- that includes yourself too. Perhaps it may just be a defense mechanism to avoid people making a fuss over your feelings, but it works to be less problematic. Additionally, that aura you emit with it seems to affect others positively too. That's right...
Smile your problems away...
It seems to work like that.
Finishing your food with the last bite, you took care of your plate, along with the used utensils and placed it in the dishwasher for you to clean. Putting dish soap on the sponge, you held your plate on your free hand, preparing to clean the porcelain material. But just as about to start, your ears twitched when they heard the jiggle of the front door knob, signalling you that someone is coming in.
Careful not to emit any sound, you wiped your wet hands on your shirt before you slowly approached the door, your quirk ready to fire in case the 'guest' was not welcome. Before you even have the chance to touch the door knob, the door's hinges have already moved, welcoming the visitor to the structure's indoor grounds.
"Hold it right there--" You shaped your fingers like a gun and aimed it at the visitor, startling your... "Mom?" Your guard instantly dropped, welcoming your only parent with an embrace.
"Hey, (N/n)(nickname)," She greeted back, returning your hug.
"You're home early," You remarked, tightening your hold around her waist. "What's the occasion?"
"That's a surprise for tomorrow~" She sang, closing the door before entering the house. "Seems like you're done with dinner," Ignoring her comment, you immediately asked her what was the first thing that came into your mind.
