The One That Got Away

Chapter 23

Caterina was walking back to Magnus' loft more assured by Alec's promise. She may not really know Alec all that well but she knew that type of person; the type of person that keeps to his words and prosmises. Though she didn't agree with what Magnus was doing breaking up with Alec despite how happy he was in the name of protecting him. Cat knew deep down the way to protect Alec was for him to be with Magnus but Magnus was stubborn so she would do everything in her power to protect him for Magnus. If that meant killing Camille she would do it with or without Magnus, though she would prefer to do with her best friend they have always been stronger together and she had to be stopped. She finally reached the loft expecting to see Magnus still asleep after all she was only gone for 30 minutes she walked in and the living room was empty but could hear music playing and the soft murmur of singing coming from the kitchen. Though Magnus would never admit it and would sing in front of no one, he was actually really good; his voice is so soft. Cat stood in the door and could hear the song more clear it was Queen's Somebody To Love  and then started to sing along with him, to which he turned round "how long you been stood there?" Magnus asked a little embarrassed. Cat shrugged "not long. But I enjoyed it" Magnus blushed a little "the song I mean. You were hideous" she said smirking lightening the mood. Magnus looked up and narrowed his eyes at her and pushed her playfully as he walked past her into the living room and sat on the couch conjuring himself a glass of whiskey with rocks. Cat turned to to sit next to him and saw the drink he had and sighed his 'heartache' drink. Magnus turned and smiled; for anyone that wasn't his best friend would think it was genuine but Cat knew him better maybe better than he knew himself. "So to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" Cat smiled "can't I just come see my bestfriend?" Magnus tilted his head slightly to the side "yes but I know you Cat? What is it?" Cat was very hesitant to tell him her plan now she wanted to make sure it would work before telling him, although he does deserve to know. "Caterina Loss" he said sternly with his eyebrows raised and Cat sighed "fine" she said defeated and she looked at him who still had his eyebrows raised waiting for her to continue. "It's about Camille. This morning when we were talking about her then you feel asleep. I had a text from her." She showed him the text and continued "look Magnus I know you don't want to hear this but you staying away from Alec won't protect him it makes it easier for Camille to get to him. You know deep down the best way to protect him is for him to be with you. I also have a plan how Alec could be in safety completely with no danger from her. I can do this without you but I would really prefer if you were by my side" Cat told him with her voice softening at the end almost as if it was plea to him to be with her to do this because they both knew no matter how strong the two of them were as warlocks the friendship bond that they had made them stronger. "What's the plan?" Magnus asked intrigued "we're going to kill her"
