Chapter 21

"Cat? What are you doing here? You do know me and Magnus broke up" Cat nodded with a sad look upon her face "and I'm so sorry about that I really did like you Alec and I also know why you broke and it's why we need to talk" she told him as she looked around him to see Izzy behind. Alec turned around to see what Cat was looking at and found his sister, he turned back to Cat "that's my sister" Cat nodded acknowledging it "we need to talk in private Alec" she said raising her eyebrows willing him to understand how important this is "it's about HER" Alec widened his eyes he knew exactly what this was about and it wasn't a conversation for Izzy, it was too dangerous for her. He stepped aside allowing Cat to come "just wait in there. I'll be in, in a minute" he told her pointing to the living room, Cat nodded and walked into the room. He turned to look at Izzy "can you please give us some space?" He asked pleading, she nodded not wanting to leave Alec alone with a women she'd never seen but she loved her brother so if he wanted privacy that's what she would give him. She walked past towards the door opened it but before she stepped out, she turned to Alec "if you need me call me" Alec nodded to her he knew she meant well and he loved her for it. "Of course. See you later. Love you Iz" Alec smiled at her "I love you too" and with that she walked out leaving Cat and Alec alone. He walked into the living and sat next to Cat on the sofa and looked at her concerned. "Is Magnus-" Alec started to ask but couldn't continue he couldn't get the word past the lump in his throat. He just couldn't bare the thought that Magnus was hurt, that would shatter him. "Magnus is fine he doesn't know I'm here he was asleep when I left" she told him assuringly and Alec breathed out relieved. "So Camille hasn't?" He had to ask to make sure Cat shook her head "though this is about Camille. It doesn't involve Mags. It involves you Alec. I need you to stay inside where it's safe and not go to work. Just till I deal with her" Cat told him willing him to listen and understand. "I don't understand I thought that if me and Magnus weren't together that I would be safe from her. So you're telling me it doesn't make a difference to her that we went through this heartbreak for nothing. Does he know? Does Magnus know about this?" Alec demanded shouting, but instantly felt guilty, it wasn't Cat's fault all this was happening and he looked down at his lap guiltily. Cat shook her head "no he still think that this break up will protect you but it's not true. He's my best friend and I know people say you should always tell friends the truth and I usually do tell him the truth, but through his life Mags has been through too much and this truth I'm scared might just break him causing him to make a really rash decision something he'll regret. I'm going to protect him from this truth it's what is necessary" Cat told Alec sternly. Alec nodded understanding just how much Magnus meant to her, she would do anything to protect him and that he understood because he would do the same thing for Izzy because she wasn't just his sister but his best friend. "I understand that completely. But I do have one question. How do you know what Camille is gonna do?" Cat shook her head "I don't exactly know what she's going to do but she did text" she pulled out her phone and gave it to Alec showing the text. "Magnus being heartbroken just isn't enough he needs to lose it all. A visit to the beautiful cafe might be needed. Give Maggie my best" he read the text out loud, as he spoke his eyes widened not believing what he was reading. He turned to cat "does she mean?" Cat just nodded "Magnus told me myself that if something happened to you he couldn't forgive himself. Even though he has done all he can to protect you he would still blame himself if something happened to you. So now I hope you understand now why you must stay out of reach of her" Alec nodded completely understanding and willing to do anything to protect Magnus.
