The One That Got Away

Chapter 17

It was now 12pm and Magnus was leaving his loft to make his way to the cafe. He was texting Alec to let him know and got one back instantly 'I can't wait to see you xxx' Magnus smiled at the text, put his phone back in his pocket and left the loft. He reached the cafe and walked and saw that Alec was serving so he just sat down at a spare table to prepare himself for the conversation that had to be done. Magnus just couldn't believe just how messed up things had got. They were so happy with each other but him and happiness were just never meant to be Camille made sure of that everytime something happened in his life that made him even a little happy. He just hoped that sending Alec away making sure he was out of his life was enough to keep Camille away. He was bought back to reality by the scraping of the chair opposite him on the floor, he looked up and Alec was sat looked him lovingly. "Hey" when Magnus didn't reply or even acknowledge him he added "Magnus? Magnus? Mags?" He said shaking his arm who looked up "hmm?" Magnus said sadly. Alec slid his hand from Magnus' arm to his hand and gave it a squeeze indicating to Magnus that he could talk to Alec "what's wrong?" Alec asked concerned. Magnus took a deep breath, closed his eyes trying to think of a good way that this conversation could end but there was no good way. In every scenario Magnus could think of it end with both of them heartbroken, there was no easy was to do this so he decided to just go straight in to it. Magnus opened his eyes and looked into those beautiful hazel brown eyes in front of him that he loved so much "c-can we go somewhere private to talk?" Alec looked at him confused but nodded "yeah this way. Come with me" and Alec led Magnus into the staff room and locked the door.

Alec turned round to find Magnus sitting with his hands in his lap and they were gripped together so tightly that his knuckles were whitening and his whole body was tensed. Alec walked over to him and sat down next to him, he reached over and lightly placed his hand on the top of Magnus's and he visibly relaxed. "What is it you wanted to talk about?" Alec asked with concern in his voice. Just the look of Magnus's face brought concern to Alec he had never seen Magnus looked so sad and worried about anything. Magnus looked up into Alec's eyes and had to remind himself that he had to this for Alec. He took a deep breath and prepared himself for this conversation which was going to be hard of both of them. "It's about us. W-we can't be together Alexander" Magnus started saying with tears streaming down his cheeks. Alec didn't say anything just stared at Magnus shaking his head not believing what Magnus was truly saying. Alec stood up and looked down and at Magnus "No Magnus no no no. I love you Magnus" Magnus stood up and now they were eye level he reached for Alec's hands "I know you do. More than I deserve but-" Magnus broke off with Alec interrupting him "but what?" "But it isn't safe with you being with me" Alec opened his mouth and was about to saying something but Magnus spoke before he could get any words out "it's Camille. She will come after you and god forbid she gets you I don't want to think about what will happen to you. If something were to happen to you I couldn't  live with myself. I would rather you not be with me and safe and alive than me be selfish to keep you and you end up being hurt or worse because of me" Alec heard every word Magnus said and understood why he was doing this because Alec knew full well that if the roles were reversed he would do whatever he could to ensure his Magnus's safety even if that meant at the cost his own happiness. Alec nodded telling Magnus that he understood and pulled their foreheads together, their hands still holding onto each other and they eyes closed. Magnus released one of Alec's hands and reached up and gripped the nape of Alec's neck and pulled him into a kiss that was so soft and loving but also had a lot of passion within it. Their lips stayed connected and both of them were pouring all the love that they had for each other into that one kiss. Magnus was the one that separated his one hand still at the nape of Alec's neck and the other was holding his hand "Aku cinta kamu Alexander" after Magnus saw that Alec looked confused he said "it means I love you" and with that Magnus slipped his hand out of Alec's turned and walked out the door and the last thing Alec remembered was a disappearing Magnus, a shutting door and Alec's legs giving way from under him and he dropped to the floor sobbing.
